Nutrient question.

I am running the following nutrient solution, about two tablespoons black strap molasses(feeding the mycos), 4g Megacrop 1 part nutrient, and 1/2 ounce Safer Gro Humax Liquid humic Acid in One gallon of water. Media is peat, coco coir and Vermuclite. Strain is Mexican Red Hair Sativa Autoflower Fem. Plant is growing well and for the most part, at least to my eyes looks healthy, But I am noticing that a couple of the stems are turning a redish color. I googled this and it says Magnesium deficiencies cause this, the problem I have with this is that both the Megacrop AND the Black Strap molasses contain Magnesium so I do not get how I can be deficent? Black Strap molasses alone contains 17% Magnesium per serving.

Is it possible that this plant is just a very heavy feeder and I just need to increase the nutrient load? I am running about 900ppm and the pH of the water going in is 5.8.
Or is it possible that the stems turning red is just natrually part of the appearence in this strain?Red stem.jpgDay 20.jpg

As you can see its not ALL of the stems which also perplexes me. Im not worried or freaking out, just curious. Not worried cause its growing like crazy I can notice visual size difference day to day.

I don't really like giving advice on feeding, since I don't have it down yet myself. These days, it doesn't seem like people are quite as eager to use much molasses, especially in young veg plants. You might be better off looking into Real Growers Recharge for maintaining microbial life in the soil. It has a little molasses and fulvic acid in it, as well as a bunch of "bennies". I prefer simplicity and want to mix in as few things as possible. A gram of Recarge powder could replace the need for two bottles of stuff.

I also use MegaCrop, but I'm usually closer to like 2.5 grams/gallon for a plant that size. 900ppm sounds kinda steep for such a young plant.

She seems to be loving it, She does not seem to show any negitive effects right after feeding and zero Signs of nutrient burn and she perks right up after every feeding, so im not really worried about my PPM, If Google is right on the stem color, it would seem I need to add MORE nutrient. OH SHIT I should also Include, My water comes out the tap right around 400ppm give or take, so that 900ppm is TOTAL plus whats in my water, Which is mostly calcium carbonate.

Wished I could remember what strain/pheno this was, but shit,.. we grew so many strains during our Commercial Grow op that I lost track... maybe 10th Planet by Ethos?... anyways, we held some of that shit back from the market.... I guess it was so good, I forgot. LOL! ... I do remember crashing the temps about that time. Maybe that had something to do with it. I don't know... I liked to experiment.

I am about to do some Seed production myself, I am gonna reverse 1 of my seedlings I just started, collect the pollen and use it on the other seedling I just started, Both are the same strain, Autoflower Fem Mexican Redhair Sativa, at this point its more about getting More Autoflower seeds. I have tons of Photoperiod seeds, but I am not really ready to put that much time into 1 plant at this point. I need to get herb banked up so that I have some smoke on hand before I mess with photos.

Plus, not gonna lie, I really prefer the Idea of an Auto. Faster turn around, Less hassle changing light cycles, Less worry about accidental light contamination if my tent isnt perfectly pitch black with lights out. I am sure my tent is NOT light proof at at this point as i can see light coming out of it when the room is dark.

I’ve used molasses off and on many times to see if it’s worth it. I now only use a good Tablespoon per 4gallons water when brewing a compost tea and brew beyond any sweet smell. I believe too much would show it’s as potassium deficiency but it would appear on new and old growth, I don’t think the roots care for sugar.

I'm pretty sure it's a natural thing. Some have them and some don't.

I was watching a YouTube video some time ago and the guy said the red stem cannabis was actually stronger. He had a very large outdoor grow.

From what I've been led to believe, the molasses isn't for the plant per se, it's more for the soil microbes. The plant makes its own food(sugars), through photosynthesis. The nutrients we give the plants, isn't necessarily food. It's more like multi vitamins. At least that's what I was taught.

I am guessing so too now, One of my sprouts that just came up has a Green stem and One has a red stem, I am guessing its a pheno type expression in this plant considering these are both in the same soil blend and neither have been fed ferts yet. So when it comes time to make pollen I might just self the lower branches on the red stem and polinate the upper branches with it for seeds

I dunno, I grow in dirt and I see a lot of plants that have a red or purple stem thing going on. Could be a deficiency, could be my soil mix, but if there's no other symptoms and it isn't causing issues... then who cares? And yes it can be a phenotype expression too. I wouldn't worry about it personally.
