This is bad for everyone, but especially for the dems. I read he was a moderate and if we run thin of them conservatives won't have long enough arms to reach across the isle.

I found this interesting:

"For some time, I have had a growing conviction that Congress is not operating as it should. There is too much partisanship and not enough progress -- too much narrow ideology and not enough practical problem-solving," he said.

I agree with him, you have the dem leadership accusing obstruction at the republicans, and not all of there own folks are on board. There Rome is burning and they will flood out like rats. I hate that they will lose the few deciant dems first.

November is going to be a disaster for incumbents in BOTH parties. Watch and see ...
But will anything really change? It seems like our politicians don't get the message; Americans are fed up with all the crap in Washington. I keep hearing all this talk about how there's such a disconnect between real folks and our politicians. What is it going to take to change the current situation? bongsmilie

Bayh simply wishes to maintain his future political viability. He has never lost an election.

He wants to distance himself from the whiz-kid in the White House. He aspires to run for President...probably in '12...the sooner he can get away from the imploding current administration, the better his chances. I believe he is a good man.

The November rout will be spectacular

What does that matter? When Republicans introduce legislation and then vote AGAINST it after Democrats support it they are being obstructionist.

The dem party has been overtaken by the far left. Bayh probably can't win the nomination in 12 but is young enough to be thinking longer than that. I'll bet he has some interim role in mind. I agree though, he will be back.

Is that why it was so easy to get single payer healthcare passed? Reality contradicts the narrative you have created.

That is a populist argument that lacks any merit at all. Saying you want vague things like "freedom" and "change" are worthless. Pick out some serious goals like maybe not allowing health insurance companies to drive the economy into the ground.

The people who have read many of my posts know what I'm talking about. I want to see smaller govt. That's the main thing. I'd also like to see our leaders actually follow the constitution. Freedom is worthless huh? I don't see it that way. Change is worthless too? Obama doesn't think so. What the fuck happened to "Hope and Change"? Health insurance companies are a problem. I'd like to see something done about it. I'd also like to see some jobs come back to the u.s. Perhaps I'm a dreamer, but I love this country and am saddened to see what it is becoming.

Smaller government, lower taxes, fewer regulations?? I think that's what the TEA Party movement is all about. It is Middle America demanding a conservative/libertarian change in America. The TEA Party will align itself with the Republican Party by promoting real conservative candidates. Sarah Palin will be a driving force by supporting those candidates. Like I've said many times in this forum ... progressives and all of their socialist followers had better take Palin seriously, she's the real deal. I don't think she will be running for office herself, but like I said, she will be a great influence in the coming elections.

Come on doc ... we want to see you out there with your anti-big government sign in the next rally. :)

I think you missed the point. We can talk all day long about how much we love freedom and how we want our representatives to "follow the constitution" but that is worthless till you can nail down specifics.

Specificly what do we do to get this smaller government you want? Do we bring our military spending in line with the rest of the world? Do we cut social programs, which ones? Do we stop regulating products like China? No matter what you do there will be MILLIONS of people who are hurt.

Bringing back jobs sounds good till you realize that globalization is the only reason our shit is so cheap. Protectionist policies on trade would destroy wal-mart's business model putting the 2nd largest employer in the country (and millions of people) at risk. Hate on wal-mart all you want but a dramatic slowdown or god forbid a collapse would probably take a big chunk of our economy with it.

Manufacturing will slowly come back to the US but only after the Chinese develop a middle class and start buying their cheap shit from Vietnam, Eastern Europe and us.

This is what scares the shit out of me. Have this many Americans become so dumb that they are pushing for less regulation right after the 2nd largest economic crisis in our history was directly caused by deregulation.
