Obama Response to Online Forum

He's lying. He did this little lip bite thing right before he says "I don't know what this says about the online audience....." That means he doesn't believe what he's saying.

He's doing some interesting hand gesturing too when he's saying "no blah, blah, blah".

Outside of a few, and I mean damn few politicians, there will be no legalization of Marijuana. Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel, and Ron Paul are the only ones that come to mind and neither of them have a snowballs chance in hell of ever being president, and even if they were elected, they'd never get it passed the congress. I think the best one can hope for is minimum sentencing laws, probation and tickets for under an OZ etc. Medical laws and the fed leaving the states alone, will be about the best stoners can hope for. Stoners don't have the numbers needed for any real pressure on the president or congress, any wishing to the contrary is just "Pipe" dreaming. No Bilbo Baggins, you can't have your pipe.

Whatever happened with Barney Frank's proposal (HR 5843) to stop federal penalties of marijuana use?

I don't know why this is so surprising . Like Obama said to the Senate, "I WON". That is no chip on his shoulder, that is a 10 pound bag of russet potatoes. Can we impeach him yet?

This is complete discrimination, and what helped the civil rights movement? Peaceful demonstrations. Instead of sit ins you can organize smoke ins and so on. If it worked for the civil rights why can't it work our cause as well? Just a thought

Its funny though. Our generation, uses the internet, we dont go the newspapers, phones, and so on.

So if he could read through the lines, and not laugh at us, this is on the minds of a lot of young people and old.

but eh, i love how all the old people in the audience laugh.
just so open minded aren't they?

Hey, whatever. I got real pissed when I saw that at first. The only reason Obama's even in office is because of the internet. The HE WANTS TO HEAR FROM THE PEOPLE, change.org this and that. BUT WHAT WE SAY, DOESN'T MATTER. He laughs us off like some joke. Does it surprise you? A politician going back on his promises. Stopping federal raids, not even in office a week and California has one of the worst raids in years. The ONLY thing, that made menot throw a bowl through my tv was I also got the E-mail from NORML that MA is proposing to Tax and Regulate MJ with California. And, even better, they have a backup, their also proposing a medical mj bill at the same time. Either way, I think we're gonna come out on top on this one...

I'm from a state that just moved another step closer to passing legislation concerning medical marijuana but that isn't enough. It is good that he acknowledged the topic but it wasn't even important enough to be asked by the moderator? Maybe his administration censored the question from the forum and he chose to speak up. Who knows, but I still think that smoke in's are a good idea.

Funny, a local publi radio station out of grass valley,CA did not play what obama said or did they quote him in thier news but instead made it sound as if obama said nothing will be done at the federal level for reform and said he laughed at the question and dismissed it. But why wouldnt it be good for the economy if its the biggest cash crop??

It's way too soon in his presidency for him to talk seriously about pot.
Agreed, probably too soon. As we look harder at places to cut spending, which we will, I believe it will come up again. But we will have a better chance when EVERYONE speaks out. How many on here even went to the WhiteHouse Web site and entered a question or voted? When I was on, only about 3,000 out of 100,000 questions were about pot, but they were getting a lot of votes. You could vote for as many questions as you wanted too. I think it is great that we were able to draw this much attention to our cause, and hope if they have another one all on riu will go and vote.

Peace

So, how many people on this forum own a bank? Or, even stock in a bank? Fuck the Bankers. They have been fucking over us for hundreds of years. I say it's payback time. regulate the crap out of them. Make them adhere to a set of stringent rules, make them be conservative. Let the speculators go to wall street.

Obama does care what we think. But we gotta let him know. Its a politically sensitive issue but I think and I think he knows that pot should be legalized or at least regulated and stop making every american a felon. Its crazy.

Grow pot this year! Just grow it anywhere. AMericans are sick and tired of being treated like felons for smoking pot. I'm not going to take it anymore. Let Obama know how you feel. Write him. Call every congressman and senator who represents you and let them know you want pot legalized.

Jim Webb is cool. He's for legalizing pot. I'm gonna call and call and write and write. The Mexican drug cartels are the last straw. Its time to legalize this stuff.
