Ocean Forest

It has a little bit of perlite mixed in it already. For my first few grows I did mix in some additional perlite with the soil as I put it into the pots. Just be careful not to go overboard with the perlite, not that it would severely hurt anything. Fox Farm Ocean Forest is absolutely amazing, it's the only soil I'll use and I swear by it for any type of soil growing.

yea ive read alot and ive used organic soils before didnt really want to purchase the bag for that price but my girls are well worth it...
i used to get some great soil Gardner and Bloome they have different varieties
and that worked awesome for me but i cant find it in town only about 100 miles away so might as well grab what ive heard about!!

Ocean forest seems like a good mix should i add the extra perilite or will it be fine on its own.. the extra perilite is only for better drainage and airation

yeah i agree with darrens, ocean forest is the best when it comes to growing weed! i usually add a bit of extra perlite for increased drainage. also, i've never done it, but i hear fantastic things, of dudes mixing Ocean forest and Light Warrior and perlite, supposed to be the shit! can't hurt

Proper drainage and the ability for the roots to receive oxygen is most important. I usually add one large bag of perlite to one bag of ocean floor, you will just have to water it more often. I usually add a few inches of hydroton ball's at the last 3 inches or so to prevent the soil from "mudding" up at the bottom.

Thanks dude. haha. Actually I have 2 cents on that one. I had purchased a bag of light warrior just for shits and giggles, and I ended up having to transplant my seedlings christmas day (isn't that lucky? all stores are closed, haha). So I was SOL that day, I used up the light warrior for one of my plants. All the rest I used ocean forest. So I had one in light warrior and 4 in ocean forest. A month went by, they all grew healthy, the one odd thing was, maybe it was just a coincidence, but the one plant I had in the light warrior turned out male, while all the ones in ocean forest were female.

I made sure that the plant in light warrior was the same strain as one that was in the ocean forest just so the experiment was fair. Since I've started growing, I think I've done at least 25 plants and out of all of them, this time was the only time I've ever had a male plant. (knock on wood). Oh and all of my seeds were from nirvana-shop.com and were NOT feminized seeds, they were just regular seeds I ordered back in May.

i use ffof and add like 10 to 20% pearlite. i also add like a pound of different guanos to each bag of ffof, as well as a 5lb bag of worm castings. it seems like alot. but my girls grow huge!!! its rediculous! try it. i bet it'll grow bigger and faster than with plain ffof

The soil can mud up on the bottom because when you first transplant the plant into a larger container there is no root ball on the bottom few inches to soak up the water from a few weeks of watering. Once the soil mud's up the roots can not penetrate it and the soil after soaking up a bunch of nutrients releases a gas that that damage roots and stunt growth. Just do a little experiment to see for yourselves I learned this through years of trial and error and it is not really talked about in grow books. The whole goal is to get big fat white roots throughout the whole pot..The bigger the roots the fatter the buds. If your plant is weak and small your roots are weak and small too most likely, as above is as below is the old saying. Good luck.
