Odds of female per seed count, and cloning without rockwool questions,

Hey all, long time lurker not often poster, but I do a lot of reading here.Ok here goes a few years ago I was growing pretty heavy,I started some ak/47 from nirvana from regular seeds,I also started some ICE from nirvana that was feminized. So low and behold I had a male ak that popped balls and spread its love around the grow room before I knew it happened.SO I ended up with some seeds that was crossed with ak47 and ice.
Now on forward to now.I am thinking of popping some of them seeds,I really want a female, but I have no spare room to speak of for them, thats my problem to figure out how to do lol.If I pop 3 seeds and they all sprout shouldnt I have at least 1 female?I know the phenos arent known until they grow out,but I should have at least 1 good girl?,or am I not thinking right?I know the ratio is roughly 50/50.
Now for the clone question,I have had good sucess with rockwool, and hormex,so if it aint broke dont fix it.Now the quandry,I want to eliminate the rockwool media in my clone process,I have hopes and dreams of using foam collars in my empty mesh cups,So I am looking for ideas to clone without the mess and having to tear apart the rockwool cube to plant a clone, dont want to risk tearing up the roots as I peel the r/w away from the stem and roots.
I have little room for theories or maybes, but any ideas would pretty sweet.I make my own collars from kneeling mats and a 3 inch hole drill bit. They fit great in my cups.
:peace: :bigjoint:

12/12 schedule from seed very careful care and maximum growth you could see the sex or be able to take a clone to sex in about 6 weeks.

3 seeds should be fine to ensure at least one femal, the odd are in your favor.

try and go with soil but success rate will diminish, anyway gaztron is right, why don't you place the rockwool in a larger pot after rooting?
you can use flower foam too but rockwool is much better
anyway the fem/male ratio is 50/50 as you said but bad luck is always possible XD you have to try and that's it.

Im a bit confused, but that's nothing new. If you want the least amount of hassle, mess, and upkeep get a little aero cloner. It's hands down the fastest (other than tissue culture) and it's nice and tidy. Cloning in rockwool can be a pain at times, and isn't nearly as fast as aero. As far as your male/female ratio goes, it's tough to say what you'll end up with. You can obviously expect 50/50, but that's just common sense and not a whole lot of science behind it. I can usually tell if my seedlings are male or female when they are only 3-4" tall (and around). This isn't common nor is it 100% but I have been very very fortunate to be very accurate. Often times if you know the strain/phenotype you know it's growth rates and overall structure. So when you pop 4 beans, and all four germ and you have 3 that are short and bushy with tight internode spacing and then you have one that's tall, lanky, and has internode spacing double the others, it's safe to say thats the male. This only being true with the same strain and same phenotype, obviously different phenotypes will have vary with in the strain. I don't know if any of this helps ya, but it's what I've got...

Well the odds definately went my way then...I was given 20 seeds and out of those only one plant was male...now I'm a noob when it come to this so I obviously don't have the back ground to give any real input on the true odds of the 3 you have but I'd say WTF....couldn't hurt to try

Why do you remove the rockwool?
I only remove the rockwool because it seems to rot or fall apart in my dwc when it is exposed to a lot of water by the end of the flower time,i was hoping to not have that mess to deal with. Also I want no media in my grow but water and nutes,so if I can get rid of the r/w I feel it would be one less thing to have to purchase.

Hey west coast cultivation,I thought of a homemade aerocloner, but the last time I tried it it did not end so well,I dont think it was the cloner ,I think it was me.But alas at this point I dont have the room to add a aero cloner, besides Im in a kinda stealth situation in my grow. But its a helluva good idea I just dont have the room at this point.I may just end up dealing with removing the r/w before I put them in my dwc setup and use my foam collars on them.Gotta luv the DWC.it Rox.I will never return to soil grows again, unless its outside :)

Fair enough, like i said you could try peat pellets, i actually find they root faster than rockwool but are a bit more expensive. You could just peel the outside off and wash the peat off easy. If you want to get rid of ongoing costs of media then as said above an air rooting cloner would be the way to go

Ozman, I still think your ultimate answer is a small aero cloner. You can litterally build one for super cheap and make it as small as 4"x4" with a small pump and small pumbing. I haven't done this, but I can picture it in my head and it's super easy and super cheap and your problems would be solved for the price of a pack of rockwool starter blocks and some rooting hormone. If you absolutely can't go aero right now, I would try 100% perlite in a tray with a dome. I would imagine the perlite would just fall away from the roots with minimal work, and that would solve your no media issue. DWC is pretty impresive but not for me right now, I pull 8-12 per plant per 45 days veg in my coco mix now so I really have no need for more growth, lol. But then again more growth is always better imo. anyways good luck man hope it all works out for ya. If you want me to build up some plans for a super small aero cloner and part numbers and all that let me know and I will drum one up.

im just dumbfounded at an indoor grower missing a male. do u only go in there once a week or something?

LOL,yea I know :( but I was still learning and had many plants going and somehow it just passed me by,maybe I was so concerned over other things I just didnt pay that close of attention at the time. I was also having troubles getting my cloning down pat again,But I did learn from my mistake, and havent done it since so it was at the least a lesson learned and at the most I made some seeds that should be good smoke.I got maybe 20 seeds from the plant,so it wasnt to big of a deal, not like the whole room got seeded.

West Coast,I may just take you up on your offer,I am not rooting a lot of clones no more then 4 at a time,I am in a small space and dont have that much room.I am just trying to grow enough for my own head.
