Was hopping to hear from some people who have tried them out, which is better for removing smells?
I'm thinking of getting an ozone generator, as it costs about the same, and it dosnt need to be replaced every year.
Help me out main! :-o

Ozone genrators have some risks associated with them. Ozone can be harmful to humans AND your plants but if set up right with the right size generator it would work fine. The easiest and cheapest way is to make your own carbon filter 'socks' to fit over your exhaust duct..costs like $5 (though you probably know this :P)

I've heard ozone generators are bad, but I know people that have them running in their living rooms and bedrooms constantly and seem to be okay... maybe not :P
but harmful for my plants?! man! I guess I have to actualy go search for info now :( I hate that stuff haha
yea I just dont feel like making one, and I dont think it would be as good as one you buy... but if I bought a carbon scrubber I would put extra carbon on it, so it kind of defeats the point of not making one... but I'm an irashinbal lazy person. I've also read about a DIY ozone generator.
thanks

after doing minimal reserch it says that ozone generators are safe to an extent. they said their good for you but at .3 ppm they can cause nasal and throat iritation. and .5 ppm can cause lung edema whatever that is...
so there gos my idea oh buying the ozone generator for a gigantic room for a small one :P
I think I'll get the small one... maybe... I need to reserch more.

my plans for odor control this grow is to us a DIY odor control bucket and if that isnt enough then i am gonna get that cheep ozone thing on HTGsupply. right now i have 7 plants going (un-sexed) so probably gonna get 3-4 fems and go from there.

Man i have a Ozone Generator and a Carbon filter i find the filter does minimal and the ozone generator was the best thing invented! Without it theirs no way i could grow the carbon filter is not enough unless you get a filter the size of you! i picked a ozonair 1000 for $50 brand new in box and it works amazing. As for being bad for you i wouldnt go as far as to say that! we all breath ozone everyday it is the amount that you ingest that is not good. Co2 tanks arent healthy to breath either but it makes a tremendous difference in your grow. Its all about educating yourself on the generator and operating it within safe perimeters. My room is 5 x 10 x 7 for flowering the unit needs only to be on for only 15-20 minutes an hour unless you are running a constant exhaust then i would say it would be safe for longer. You get test strips along with the ozone generator to test the ppm of your air in your room once you know that you know when it is too much. Dont listen to negative input on it, cause you never know if that person is using it properly or just didnt have it setup perfectly. I love mine and find their is no other solution. You can also buy ones that go in your ducting for exhaust and those would be safe to run as long as your fan is on. Try to avoid ones that have a exposed corona discharge they are not as good as ones that use a uv bulb and are not as resistant to moisture.

Oh ya also co2 is a by product of ozone also beneficial to your plants. it will not harm them either i used mine while drying to prevent mold. You will never have mold in your grow room it sanitizes the air. Also good for people with allergies they are also used in hospitals.

where did you buy yours?
the ones I'm looking at are rated for rooms at 1,000 cubic feet, for an extra 30 bucks I can get one rated for a 5,000 cubic foot room... thats the one I wanted. but I'm pretty sure the ozone levels would be way to high.since the room is aproximatly 600 cubic feet.
How negative ion and ozone generators clean the air according to this ozone just oxidises everything and leaves behind pure oxygen nice and yummy
cool I wasnt going to buy one but if they have PPM reading strip thangs, than I guess I have to!!1
inline ozone generators you say? got to check that out, sounds like the best option... unless my yard will stink like ozone :P
thanks man :)

do you put it inside your grow room?
how close to the plants is it?
is there any ozone burn on it?

I just googled "are ozone machines safe?"

I pulled this off of the epa's website..

Available scientific evidence shows that at concentrations that do not exceed public health standards, ozone has little potential to remove indoor air contaminants.

IDK man, I love google, but type in almost anything and youll find what you want.... ... too high to explain myself

If ya cant trust the EPA who can you trust?

Man, I cant figure out who to trust. Hmm, "Salesman or scientist"? Tough call uh.

i got mine from a guy in the shopper. if your area is only 600 cubic feet i wouldnt go any bigger than the ozonair 1000. it doesnt take long for it to fill the room just make sure you mount it high and a fan behind it to blow it around. Ozone basically attaches itself as a 3 molecole it the air knocking out the most unstable air atom being the odour molecole, these things work great if i smoke a joint in the house i put it on and in a matter of like 2 minutes you cant smell anything. Iput it right in my grow room i get no ozone burn or whatever and outputs CO2 from the ozone generator as a byproduct and we all know our little babies love CO2.

A good scrubber will work, but depending on the size of your room you might need "one the size of you" as Hydro so eloquently put it. The homemade type scrubbers are really only sufficient for small enclosures or closets unless you make a big one and stuff it with carbon (as many have done with success). If you are as lazy as you say you are then you will probably want to go with the ozone, but do yourself a favor and get one of those timers that go for one minute on and two minutes off or whatever and limit the amount of ozone you are exposing yourself to. It is a hazardous substance, and don't use it if you have bad asthma as it will exacerbate this.

I have actually been thinking about doing the ozone myself as a backup because I had to scrap a decent grow because I got super paranoid after my scrubber "ran out" and I got stink going everywhere. I wasn't going to be able to get a new scrubber for a few days, I tried the scotch brite cloths with carbon in them with a little success, but I woke up in the middle of the night smelling the plants from the other end of the house (I have a good sense of smell, but still...)and cut the plants.

Be safe, take care, and good luck,

PP

I like this philly guy, not only does he use big words, but he uses them properly :) YAY!!!
and yes, I am very lazy. I need to repot, but have been putting it off for about a week now :(
But despite, or in spite of my lazyness, I called up a friend who owns an environmental company, hopping to get a free ozone generator :) but it didn't work :( but he said he's going to bring a box of the carbon scrubbers they use, he said its heavy duty shit, used for cleaning gas' and liquid's like gas and oil... why is gas a liquid?
So I'm going to check that shit out... pretty sure I'm going to buy the generator anyways. but I'll put it off for a week or two.,

and to hydrochronic, what is the shopper? are thoes like thoes magazines the mexican guy has a shoping cart full of and drops in puttles in my yard? I think it has a fancy title like the shopper on it.
and also what are the test strips called to test for this stuff? I want to get a box of that!
P.S. I hate timers... but if I must :(

Yeah, I read a lot when I was a kid before I learned how uncool it was to be literate. I forget how uncool it is and sometimes spew forth a lot of incomprehensible garbage.

Oh, I think he IS talking about that paper that you find in the puddle.

I hate timers as well, and I feel I need another timer like I need another hole in the head. Timers are the debil!

woops?
I used to read alot too... than got a laptop, and I never looked back.
I dont think co2 is a biproduct of ozone, from the little reserch I did it says ozone is O3 so 3 O molocules, one of the O's go and oxidise bad things, like smell, the other 2 O's are left hanging around, they are oxygen... but I'm confused, I thought O always travled in pairs, or is that H? any way, no carbon is in the picture to combine with the O to make CO2 unless you have carbon in your room, and the two oxygen molocules left over say hey baby, but I dont think that happens... but I dont know.
can water ozone generators for purifying water be used for air?
is it ozonair or uvonair?
