I just love how everyone who DOESN'T live in California is trying to
tell us CALIFORNIANS what's best for us and how we should have voted.


We voted no! And for good reason.

This bill wasn't legalization; simply control, regulation, and taxation.
Which is what the bill was named btw. "The regulate, tax, and control marijuana act"

Why is every other state mad at us because we told our government:

"Fuck you. We'll keep the revenue from OUR herbs, we don't need you (gubbmint)
taxing us, so keep your greedy hands out of our pockets! We will make the profits from OUR hard work, and WE will spend the money in OUR communities!" ?

I'm very ecstatic that we voted no. The majority saw thru the bullshit.

Basically, the media has most of you "out-of-staters" brainwashed into thinking
that billions of dollars of revenue would go to things the state needs.

When was the last time the state government put money into where it really needed to be? If this bill passed, people like you and me wouldn't be able to decide to pick up a medical card and supplement our income.

We basically told the government we don't need a middle man to get bud.

Why would we hand over revenue to some big-wigs who don't give two shits
about putting money back into our communities?

We, the people of California, DO care about our communities.
We're spending the money we make from our community, and putting it back into the community it came from.



If anything, this bill would have put MORE people out of jobs than it would
have created. I'm sure many of us have "jobs" selling our products. And there's NOTHING wrong with that. Its called working in private. No middleman to demand to go over your finances, see how much you've sold, and then tax you depending on how much you've sold.

Its a sad day when the masses believe that if the government doesn't have control over something, and isn't taxing the crap out of you for it, it MUST be bad and should stay illegal.

We've got to tell them, "Hey, we don't want you controlling it. If you want to TRULY legalize it, then write a 5 paragraph bill legalizing it, and demand that all of those who were locked up for it be set free and records wiped clean. Legalize it. Make it just as legal as dahlia flowers."

I think maybe we got the point across to the gubbmint of California that
"We're not so stupid, that we're going to give you one of the last ways of making money without taxation, to you!"


I WAS PRO Prop 19, until I read the bill and realized that we ALREADY HAVE CONTROL of ALL the bud. Why give this magnificent power away to the government?

And they wanted to set the age to obtain bud at 21!!!

Wtf?

This is just my take on it.

For anyone who disagrees with me, lets agree to disagree right now.
I will not change my position.

In the weeks leading to the election, federal officials said they planned to continue enforcing laws making marijuana possession and sales illegal and were considering suing to overturn the California initiative if voters approved it.

Thank you for that great post. It was quite frustrating this morning listening to all the kids whine about how we should go to hell for voting "No" for 19. Everytime I asked the person if they've read the bill, they said "Oh, no I havent." They all seemed to think this was a legalization bill, when infact it was not. +rep as well :)

Just like in the end of alcohol prohibition?
95% of Marijuana arrest are handled at a local or state level right now.
The feds don't have the resources to handle us.

I agree tadamofo, also its been said a couple times but really the big thing prop 19 did was keep pushing the cannabis question to the public eye. there are more shows about it, its in public discussion, every media outlet has taken a piece of the cannabis buzz. If everyone, not just californians, can keep up the buzz and get the idea out there that 19 failed because conscientious smokers wanted a good bill rather than any bill I think it will make a much stronger case for a true social change. Also, the real issue I have with this whole Federal argument is that the Constitution does not give the federal government the express power to prohibit anything. The legal argumentation and strategy that has been employed over the past 83 years has rested largely on the supremacy clause and a vague interpretation of Article I, section VIII. It would be a great message to get out there that intelligent people opposed a poorly written proposition THEN stress the point that these NORMAL and INTELLIGENT people were in favor of cannabis; instead of the stereotypical interpretation of the data: "stoners were too lazy and just didnt vote"

I completely agree, ive had brain surgery and could benefit tremendously off of it... Even more then medical reason's though, i just love to get high :leaf:


But the more i read into prop 19 it really seemed like a big sham, a way to use weed to feed the rich even more, a way to take the industry from us and put it into the hands of the oil/cigarette/pharmaceutical company's using various shell corporations.



EDIT: Going to go smoke some Motivation scissor hash from my chop last night... Delicious!
