OG Kush clones not budding- 5 weeks flower

Hey all,

I don't have any pics yet, but I am very frustrated. I have 4 OG Kush plants, about 4 feet tall in 5 gallon buckets, leaves are all healthy looking, the plants are very stong, but there is one problem.....after 5 weeks of flowering, there is hardly any bud on them, and hardly any trichome production. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I have another OG kush plant (different strain) with them, and it is 10X bigger buds with a lot of trichome production. I know trichomes are strain specific, but these is all good strains I know.

I am battling temperatures with the summer heat, but I manage to keep the room at 80F during lights off, and it goes up to 87-90F lights on, which I know is too hot without CO2, but I think there should be more buds and at least some trichome production by the 5th week?

The humidity is low , about 20% usually....I added a humidifer today, but all the air gets vented out of the room, so it doesn't seem like that will work with a 440CFM fan venting the room every 3 minutes or whatever.

I have them under 600W HPS Air cooled 2 - 2 feet overhead

They are in FF OF soil, PH always 6.1-6.5 when watering /feeding

Feed them slowly because OG kush burn easily, but lately I am thinking maybe they arn't getting near enough? I am feeding them with the Botanicare line of organic nutes, grow, bloom, liquid karma, cal-mag.

I started the PPM low at 100 -700 while vegging, and now I have gotten up to 1000PPM while flowering. I know FFOF is a hot soil already, so I have been cautious with the nutes.

Any suggestions? Adding an AC will be a definite next summer,, plus winter is coming in like 2 weeks, and it will be cold where I'm at., and I should be able to get the temps down below 75 easy.

So basically my question is ...how do I get these guys to start producing buds and trichs? I know they are good females...they were clones.

The bottom pic shows a closeup of how bad the buds are budding up at 5 weeks. There is 4 plants in that picture...the good one is to the right as you can see how much fatter the buds are.

you must get your temperatures down and your humidity up ASAP. As you stated 90 degrees is too hot, but that coupled with the extremely dry environment is most likely the reason for your plants lack of flowers.

Is there any light breaking into the room during your 12 hours of darkness?
They are in a closet which leaks light though the door, but minimal...

I am thinking its one or all of the following:

Root bound? - I thought I had this covered planting in 5 gallon buckets, but they are big....

Too high of temps/low humidity for the strain....I am working on getting temps down...

Over feeding/ Under feeding? I thought I was very cautious by feeding them gradually, and I have not gotten over 1000ppm when watering every other water.....

Lack of something else?

if the plants are getting any light even leaked light they will not be fully into budding stage , you need to fix the light leaks asap

GrowTech

stays relevant.
Light leaks are the #1 reason why your plants are having trouble flowering. Secondly, are you still feeding vegetative nutrients or nutrients designed for the flower cycle?

light leaks will fuk stuff up!! but IMO kush is a slow budder takes about 2 weeks longer to really take off. :)

Yeah there is no light leaking actually on the plants. Where the plants are, its fully dark.

I know kush is a slower budder, and can take a couple weeks longer at least..but there should at least be some smell and trich production at 5 weeks? Like I said..my other OG kush plant is looking 10X bigger buds, and smells like good kush should. These other plants have no smell at all, and are pea sized buds at t he biggest. I mean am I wasting my time here? They really haven't budded hardly anything over the last week.

I was so irritated last night, I almost pulled them...because they do not look like they are growing any bud..and is just wasting my space / electricity

Here is a couple pictures.
The first picture shows a pic of the stupid ones that arn't budding up...just little tiny buds...have been the same for like a week..hardly any production..and don't smell at all....and no trichs like I said

The other picture you can see the small buds to the left on the stupid ones, and the other way bigger buds on the one OG plant to the right......

i have to ask are they clones from the same plant. I have light leaks in every one of my grows with NO PROBLEMS so i doubt it's that

Yeah , like I said, there is no light whatsoever hitting the plants, and one of them is doing good (A different OG Strain) ..so I'm pretty sure its no the light leaks..but it is something for sure that is stopping these guys from budding and producing trichs. These are kush plants...they should have a ton of trichs.

you just said it "A different OG Strain" thats your answer, just because they are both "og kush" that does not mean the will both exhibit the same traits such as bud size, smell, height, weight, high, node spacing, and coloring. it takes a lot of selective breeding to get a strain that exhibit the same traits no matter what

I'm not trying to get them all the same..I'm just trying to get healthy plants.

I just don't understand why my 4 OG clones are not producing any trichs at 5 weeks? Even if they are small buds..they should at least start producing trichs by now....so basically all I want to know..is if I can save these 4 stupid OG ones that arn't budding, or am I wasting my time and should I just chop em, and start over with new strains...

give them a good abtch of bloom nutes and worse comes to worse i had a problem where my plant wouldnt bud any more and it was at 8 weeks of flowering (nevilles haze) i found out it was clogged and aint shit you can do about it but chop it down

they are not producing trichs because of the traits they have, you can't "save" them the are going to grow by what their genes tell them to do. pulling them is your choise but they might taste better or get you higher then the other one. look at my thred i breed blueberry X ak-47 i grew 3 plants that came from the same batch of seed that were from the blueberry mom. all three plants exhibited different traits even though they were the same strain. hope this helps

Well I am pretty sure its not a shitty strain. These are Diablo OG clones bought from a medical MJ provider. They should be on medical cannabis quality level...

I guess I'll just see what they do over the next 3 weeks, and if they arn't looking better by then, I'll just chop em. I know OG is like a 9, 10, sometimes 11 or 12 week strain, but I sure as hell am not taking them to 12 weeks the way they are going now...

your plants look healthy and they still look like they are in the beggining of flowering. keep doing what ever you are doing because if you try to make them better( giveing more nutes) you can really mess them up.

just found this post... this might be my problem maybe...maybe I am under feeding?

They look so healthy otherwise...

What I just did is brought my PPM up to 1500 with more cal-mag, and switched back to the veg formula , pure blend pro grow, because it has more nitrogen.

I'm hoping this is the problem, because I just watered them with the new formula. I will let you guys know..and it will be useful for those growing OG kush.

its from a breeder name swerve on sfv OG.

swerve quote:
"sfv loves her nitrogen, and cal mag.. and will gladly take bloom boosters as well in flower... topping, lst or super cropping and scrog are the only way to grow og if you want to yeild otherwise you get a few grams a great smoke... the colder the temps the better for the bud as they will grow rock hard or amazing dank quality.. i rarely ever ever see any purple from low temps on real og... she just doesnt purp... i have had og growing in as low s the 50's and no purple the purple kush of the group was black....so temps just make the buds dense as all hell"

and in another post....

"og is a food whore.. shit i give them 750ppm of nitrogen and calmag right when they root and go into my dwc system... then it gets bumped real fast to 1000ppm... when i switched this last run to 12/12 i was at shit i dunno 1250-1300ppm before even going into flower. and i will top them off at 2000ppm of bloom calmag and kool bloom. before my 3 weeks flush. and not a burn anywhere on the leaves or in the buds.. and let me tell you i got og kolas right now that are just under arms length and they are a true 3 weeks into flower. im talking insane og dank....hahahahahaa i take all my og at 70-75 days nothing earlier i like the weight it puts on those last 2 weeks. you can go from a 2 ounce plant to a 4 ounce plant in those last 2-3 weeks. trust me on that... rock hard dense as all hell lemon pledge pinesol kerosine smelling and tasting buds......"

and...

"start them off kinda chill until you notice they are growing once they get growing hit them good with nitrogen and calmag.. those are your friends with og... og is a cal mag whore.... she will eat as much of it as you can throw at it... the longest possible veg and as much lst and topping or fimming or training you can do to get them to bush out... if you can set up a trelis and weave them through the trelis kinda like a scrog grow... og can be lanky if you dont stay on her with supercropping or lst.... when she starts to stretch pinch the stem ie supercrop. this will cause her to branch out more.... if you can veg them for 20+ days in a dwc you will have pretty large plants if you have the head space that is. but they will yeild killer for you f you can get them fairly big and bushy.... "

and...

"bushes of og.. i could yeild more from 50 og bushes than i can from 250 18inch tall og clones... with 3 grams on each of them..."
