Ok so I want to build a cob light

the end goal is to be able to cover 100f2 but want to start small and just make a bunch of individual lights to be able to adjust height where ever and when ever needed. Clear as mud lol I like the looks of the citizen 1212 but have not figured out the most efficient way to drive them any one with ideas throw em out there let's hear em.

So I think I want to do a light that will cover a 8f2 area from what I have read I think that 8 citizen 1212 3000k 90cri can be driven safely with a hlg 320h 36a am I right or am I wrong?

that would be fine, maxed out that driver would push 1.21A x 8 cobs at a very efficient 44W each (also 44W/SF which would cover all your needs)

for that driver yes. or you could do it in series with 2 hlg-185-1400b but youd be dimming a little

I just looked at a 185h c700 286 volt looks like it will run eight but with only 700ma but that is soposed to be the best way to run them to get the most photons vs heat right?

What are the pros and cons for wiring in parallel vs searies.
If you wire them in parallel, if one goes out, I believe the circuit is broken. "One goes out, they all go out."

Also, if one goes out, the current could be redistributed to other lights and blow, I believe? But it's also the simplest way.

Use good parts. Don't fuck it up.

series- more idiot proof, but can see really high voltage in low current cases like the 700 mA you are targeting
parallel- more flexible/expandable, better for arrays with cobs of 4 or more

Maybe I'm thinking of series? One linked to the other linked to the next?

ok so running in parallel is going to be my best bet for what I want to do. Running in parallel like above will the 1212 chip put out enough light intensity at 44 watt?

8 cobs at 44 watts each is 350 watts. Over 10 sq.ft. (2 x 5, which is a good module for a 10 x 10 space), that's 35 watts per sq.ft.

I think keeping it at a. 2x4 spread I would have higher intensity light may just go to. 12x10 or 12 for final goal but at the moment I just need some where to start all this info is cool but I don't learn that way so I need stuff to work with.
