One 26 W CFL per Plant hopeless?

Just wanted to give an update:

Turned out Christmas was when I started the 12/12 cycle...But it was all up to me, not the plants, as I've learned. The timing was a matter of the space available. I've got plenty of space, so I waited until my plants were about 20" tall to start flowering.

My verdict on CFLs is that they are a pain in the ass with an improvised operation like mine. Trying to hang them from cords and stuff totally sucks. I did my best, but it was impossible to get light to every side. As they grew taller, my lights would move up, and the bottom of the plant is now barren. CFLS are just too spot oriented. I can see why someone would want to invest in a light that could flood the whole plant. I also accidentally burned my babies often, trying to keep the lights perfectly hovering 1 1/2 " away.

Next time I will do one of these 3 things:

1. Build an elaborate frame with little flexible arms all over to make it easier to adjust the lights, and to ensure a more consistent placement.

2. Invest in one of those fancy other lights.

3. Just grow a little while indoors and then transplant outside.
