Ooutdoor - smartpots or in the ground?

Hiya
Ill be putting my Jock Horror autos out soon. Due to the hassle of getting a shovel to my site i opted for smartpots, 12 litre ones. But bizarrely in my local supermarket i just found what ive been looking for, small shovel with telescopic handle which i can get to the site.
So digging holes is back on. But what would you do? Should i stick with the 12L smartpots or go the plant in ground route? Ive read the pros/cons of pot v ground but with them being smartpots maybe that negates some of the drawback of normal pots...?

Cheers Dab, yeah thats worth considering...how much watering do you reckon id have to do for 12 liter (smart) pots?

I'm not sure depends on your climate and grow area but if it gets hot and alot of sun they will be thirsty girls especially once they get root bound

Cheers Dab...as far as i know thats one of the advantages of smartpots, because air can get through the fabric, as soon as the roots come into contact with the fabric and therefore air, the root dies so its far less likely to get rootbound...

Ye bro they prune the roots they just so unsteady for the root mass I'd go ground

Every mother fuckin day indeed ....I use smart pots in my green houses just because of the gophers in my area .....I do have large holes with wire buried to keep them out ....but those holes are for my experimental/God Zilla plants I like to do......over 14 feet tall and just as round last year .....usuall 10 to 12 footers are the norm height wise ....but last year was exceptional ....all tomatoes of course

OK ground it will be! One of the sites has a lot of bushes ill have to hack down but it means the soil contains a lot of their roots...provided i cut them away when i dig the holes it should be ok i guess?

You are right as rain. Fabric pots have changed the nursery business. Three year old fruit trees grown in fabric are 50% bugger than those grown in plastic. But they have sprinklers that come on everyday at 1400. The OP will be carrying water. He should put them in the ground.

put the whole thing in the ground it acts like a jiffy ot when you plant them into a pot same thing pretty much keep that base watered appropriately and itll definently treat you right did two deadhead ogs last year in smart pots one stayed on a pallet and the other in the ground keeping that base nice and watered helped tremendously

I did some deadhead og a couple years back. Nice strain dense sticky buds

Yep, when I put them out I had 8 x 1.5 litres in my rucksack. 6km uphill bike ride + 20 minute hike, man I was absolutely fu(ked! But I then realised there is a water fountain 1km from my site which is gonna make things a whole lot easier. I need to find some big containers then I can just spend one day shuttling water up to the site...sweet eh?
So at the moment I have 8 autos outside, 2 in the ground and 6 in 3 gallon smartpots. Summers here can be pretty brutal (for Europe), 35°+ isn't unusual...how often/much should I be watering?
