ok help me out, I have been tossing some things around the ol noggin. I got a 4x4 tent, 600w mh&hps, ffof/light warrior soil mix. I have 9 plants, about a month and half old, maybe less (dont have my log in front of me), on 18/6 MH, in 2 gallon pots. 3 are from fem seed, 6 from reg seed, and no visable pre-flowers...I am estimating about 2 or 3 females from the reg seed. So figuring in about 6 plants here.

I went out and got some 10 gal containers, but I am not going to be able to fit all six in the tent, so I was thinking about doing maybe 2 in the 10 gal pots, and the rest in 5 gal containers. I would like to keep it consistant, but it basically comes down to "less plants-bigger pots or more plants smaller pots". now...like everyone I would like to maximize yeild...not looking for stupid big here, I just want to do the best with what I got. Would I be better off going all 5 gal containers with more plants? Would a bigger yeild in the 10 gal really be double the yeild of a 5 gal container? I know yeild is gene specific, but bigger the roots bigger the plants right?

+rep or helpful posts =)

youd have to veg it longer for the extra pot size to be worth it i think, or to improve the yield more. i think more smaller plants are pretty much the best idea. thats why max yield for plants is usually measured in sog. big pots is worth it if you put the veg time in i guess.

i agree if you want to put in the time do the 10gal but if your like me and time is a factor, do the 5 gals. 5 gallons are a pretty good size anyway thats what im runnin

Not only will you be vegging your plants for a long time, but you will DEFINITELY outgrow your 4x4 space, especially with 6 of them, that is if your trying to use the 10 gallon pots to their full potential. If not, I would suggest scaling it down to 5 gallon pots.

I have been working with 3 gal size that work real well! If your going to veg for 8 wks and flower 8 weeks ..that size will work great! Have 8 under 600 watt and all are doing great!
