Any poppy seed in the spice section of your local supermarket will grow into a nice opium poppy. The seeds are Papaver somniferum L. and at Mccormick.com they even say that the seeds they use come from the same plant that produces opium. I took this on step farther and actualy purchased and planted some of their seeds. It only took 3 days for some of the seeds to germinate, and all of the plants that grew from the seeds produced opium. I even had 1 plant with 5 seed pods on it.

How do you do it?

Go back to Hllucinatory Substances and look up opium grow, or something like that, it should be the next post about opium.

Really? Interesting...I've never thought I would say this, but...
I'm going to grow some opium

I've always wanted to.. . .Post sum pics up of your intire process. . .If it works out for you. . I'll be the next one to try growing them.

How many plants do you need for a serving???

So just go buy the Mccormic poppy seeds in the spice section!?!
Them being dried wont hurt anything??

Yeah, apparently so. aattochi grew some Mccormick poppy spice seeds. I'm going to go buy some tommorrow. This is awesome. Yeah and if u go to the mcCormick website it says the poppy spice seeds they use come from the opium plant.

Nope, your Cannabis seeds were dry, right? I seen cheap poppy seeds(store brand), but figured the McCormick would be fresher. 1 plant can produce a serving if growen right and spaced out enough. If not spaced out enough you will only end up with 1 or 2 pods per plant, unless you cook the opium with lime then basify the morphine alkaloid to end up with morphine base.

I wanted to do the same thing. the best way to harvest opium is to wait for the pods to ripen than slit them while theyre still on the plant, they will let out their resin, which is opim, and than you come back in a week or two and do it again, you can do that several times before harvesting the pods.

opium and opiates are very pleastant but everyone should know that they are all very addictive and hard to come off of. so just be carefull about how often you smoke it as well as be VERY careful in how much you smoke you can over dose. opium and opiates are all painkillers for anyone that dont know. Im tell everyone from a first hand experience. the withdrawls from opiates is so incredibly painfully and it sucks! but smoke every now and then is very nice but just dont let it take over. peace

funny that i see this thread, im smoking some ope i got just today, it is very relaxing, recommend smoking with bong off a screen like hash oil.

good opium is the shit. hard to come by. the red glass lookin crap is a waste.the best ive had was my first time and i dint even know it was opium. this guy traded me a sqaure of something he said it will fuck u up trust me. so i called a buddy asked him if he wanted to get fucked up. we packed a bowl. n got fried. every hit kept gettin higher n higher. our hippy weed man came over packed some herb in the pipe took a hit. n flipped out n was like who has the opium? n then proceeded to bitch us out for wasting it by smoking it like that.

hey i live on 8 acres 7 of which are forest and i was wondering if i planted about two acres of that mcormic shit woild it grow? would that be enough for like a kilo of opium? and how much do the mcormic seeds cost? thanks
