Organic Bug Problem Cure?

Hello community! So I was doing my daily rounds this morning with the babies, and I noticed that both of them have these tiny flies on them that fly off when you shake the pot, but burrow when you water it. If anyone knows what these are from the description please let me know. My friend said that Eucaliptus oil would stave them off, but I also read that it kills microbes, and I am currently using mycorrhizol. Any ideas fellas? Thanks for your time!

sounds like fungus gnats. they're common. your options are to a) let your soil dry out really well. they like the moisture. deny that to them and they may go away. or b) you can try pyrethrin, which is an insecticide, and meets the organic standards. or fly paper or gnat stix. a few options. hope this helped some

Food grade diatamaceous earth! 100% organic and really cheap at feed stores. Just sprinkle it all over your garden and it's ~90% silica makeup will slice open the exoskeletons of most garden pests and render them dead by dehydration within 48 hours. It really works well, and it's like three bucks for a couple pounds of it. Everyone should know about it. Not to mention, it's actually a decent supplement, in smaller amounts, to any grow! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diatomaceous_earth
