Outdoor Cloning? PICS included

I have a plant here that I've been having some issues with because of the small pot she's in and also a nutrient deficiency (possibly a pest problem as well). I was wondering if I could use some of the healthy leaves at the top for cloning some new, healthier plants outdoors.

What would be the best method for this?
Is cloning outdoors a viable cloning method? I've seen a lot more info about indoor cloning...
What supplies would be needed?
And could anyone recommend a step-by-step guide for cloning plants outdoors?

Any help would be really appreciated, thanks!

I tried cloning outdoors a couple years back. Too hot, they wilted bad.

I had success cloning with under $20 with coco coir, clonex solution, and a packet of rooting gel sample that the shop owner gave me in trade for some girl scout cookies. (The cookies, not the weed.)

You'll also need to spend about $7 at homedepot on a light bulb, plug socket, and extension cord. Hook that shits up to a cardboard box and you're good go. I got roots in 17 days. I will never say that my cloning technique is the best, but its cheap, easy, and it works.

If another poster does have outdoor cloning methods, I'd love to learn something new.

There was a method of cloning that I tried but not successfully awhile back. You take a rockwool cube split in half and wrap around a branch on your plant. Keep it in place somehow. I used plastic wrap but yeah that didn't work so good. Keep the rockwool moist and eventually that part will get roots, snip, plant and grow.

In regular horticulture, I think this is called layering.

Hey MJ! Ive done clones outside but it really matters how hot it is that day! You can have them out but not in FULL sun,But that I mean choose a lighty shaded area to put them in.I got roots within a week Ill make a guide when I can cut more off of mine,Thats if I can!Hope That helped somewhat

I just root my clones inside. To me it's just easier to monitor them to make sure the conditions are right for life. Can only do so much in nature vs play god indoors.

Yea it is layering,Bread ties work to keep them in place:hump:

If you simply type your very words "step-by-step guide for cloning plants (marijuana) outdoors?" into Google, you'll get a ton of helpful links.

Some supplies you will need:

Scalpel, razor...or a knife that is very, very sharp will do. You want to make a nice clean cut. After you cut the clone, make several other sharp angled cuts part-way into the part you just cut. Each partial clean cut will give the new clone a place to establish a few starter roots.

Get some cloning gel/powder. It's cheap, and you can buy it anywhere (Walmart/Home Depot/Lowes, local gardening center) for $3 or $4. If it's powder, after you cut the branch you wanna clone, quickly dip the clone end you cut into water, then quickly dip it into the cloning powder. If you have the gel, cut and quickly dip in cloning gel, then plant.

Plant your clone in whatever outdoor medium you're gonna use, and mist it with a spray bottle. You could buy one of those cheap trays with peat-moss pellets/pucks that expand when you add water. They come with a plastic tray lid, which after misting your plants would keep humidity high. If there isn't vent holes in the plastic tray lid, cut a couple to allow for some fresh air.

Try to keep the freshly cut clones out of direct sunlight for at least a week.

Check on them every day if possible, and spray the leaves with a spray bottle when you do.

You'll lose some, but you'll also have some that pull through and do fine. The more you can do, the better odds for successful cloning obviously.

It'll work. Good luck!

Okay thanks a lot. Which part of the plant is best for cloning? newer leaves or old, those with a full 5-leaf set or the top sprout, etc.

The newer branches....and yeah dude, you gotta start reading/YouTubing this topic. It would be ridiculous for posters here to try and re-invent the wheel by explaining it to you.

Use some effort, and research.

A lot can be learned with just a little effort in searching for it. It sounds like you have a lot of general cloning questions...best to start from the beginning, and learn all you can.

With 214 posts I doubt your a pro but I agree nonetheless. Its pretty frustrating when ppl come on here asking retarded questions. Yea this is a site to help, but you gotta use common sense. Just put 2 and 2 together. Not to mention it makes you look retarded when you ask questions about simple stuff.

You don't have any branching that I could see, so you aren't going to get very many clones. If she were mine I would repot her in super soil in at least a5 gal bucket all the way up to her neck (first good healthy leaves), and put her in a good spot. It is simple to clone outdoors tho. I just cut off a small lower branch, place it in water, dip it in rooting hormone, and stick it in a rapid rooter. Then I put it in an open shed until I see roots coming thru. Then I pot it. It's very hot here in S. Fl. Still works.

Here are some more pics...they look like they may be branching. I may try one or two clones...what do you use for a rapid rooter?

Im also in S. Fl. so thats good to know its not too hot. You think it's too late to repot? It looks like she's starting to flower but Im not entirely sure (first-time grower here :?)

Hey bro im in central florida and lts more simple than allllll the shit u look up u just keep them in the shade all fuckin day but let it by real hot and warm where u put them. Ive been using the things u u get cakes in that are like card board and have clear plastic on the top so u can see thru all u do is keep it in there i dont even move the clones i just leave them in the same spot 24/7 and in about 3 days i start givin in time to breath where u open the lid or like 15 20 minutes and see if they wilt. Regardlessnif they wilt or not i use the dome for at least like 6 days. But yeah

I guess it's the novice that judges someone's post count with the quality of what they're saying, so coming from another person with not many more posts, whatever you have to say doesn't really mean shit to me either.

The guy is too lazy to do the work and the research. All it takes is 10 minutes of searching and reading to figure out the basics (and no, you don't have to delve that deeply into it...it's pretty straight-foreward), but like so many people on RIU, they'd rather just ask questions and hope someone does all the work for them.
