Outdoor DWC NORCAL

Hello everyone! Happy Friday to all.

been a while since I posted anything. The past couple years I've done outdoor DWC with cannabis, cucumbers, and various melons. All were pretty successful.

So, I decided I'd post some pics of my current grow and see what y'all think.

At the current time the bucket empties pretty much every day...those girls suck up some water! I'm currently using GH Flora nutes. They have all started to show preflowers and looks like it will be a good harvest. Please note the pictures were take a week ago and they've grown quite a bit since then. I'll post regular updates if anyone's interested.

There are 4 plants total, not bagseed by any means but my labels got washed off and I don't know who's who any more. I ordered the seeds from Herbies so I know they'll be kickass...but I have to waterproof my labels next go.
Cheers!

I pretty much don't have to change the res since they each drink an entire bucket everyday. Just add water and nutrients.

So, an update to my original post of 31 October. It's been 5 weeks since I last posted and we're at about 5 weeks flower. I'll post some pictures. let me know how far you think I have until harvest. I'm thinking at least 2-3 weeks perhaps more. So far no trouble with bud rot, although I've had bud rot every outdoor season the past 3 years. using Seranade now and it seems to have helped. That, and the fact that we've had no rain this summer.2015-09-07 19.04.58.jpg 2015-09-07 19.05.12.jpg 2015-09-07 19.05.20.jpg 2015-09-07 19.04.58.jpg 2015-09-07 19.05.12.jpg 2015-09-07 19.05.20.jpg 2015-09-07 19.05.20.jpg 2015-09-07 19.05.34.jpg 2015-09-07 19.05.44.jpg 2015-09-07 19.05.46.jpg 2015-09-07 19.05.50.jpg 2015-09-07 19.05.53.jpg

I have always wanted to do any outdoor DWC. Just never followed through with it. Nice results so far!
Thanks! It's a bit of work but I like the outcome. I DWC tomatoes, cukes and melons. The main problem is keeping the res full...when the girls get tall they drink a lot of water, I'd say I fill each bucket at least once a day. The white buckets keep the res relatively cool but then you're open to algae ...but, so far, no problems. I'm switching to just plain water now as well.

I'm in Norcal, +/- 38 degrees...I have 4 plants total and, to me, it looks like the 2 on the right with the yellow leaves will finish pretty quickly. I'd think maybe 2-3 weeks from now...that would be about 7 weeks flower time...think that's enough?

Impressive. Are those buckets linked together ? how much do they drink a day ? no root problems ?
They are 5 gallon buckets, each 5 gallons and not connected to each other. Once they start really taking off the reservoir needs to be refilled every day. I haven't had any root problems at all...surprisingly. We've had a pretty hot summer here and I've had no problems keeping the roots fairly cool. I will modify a few things next go around so I can make changing the water easier...

What size basket you running on top of that 5 gallon bucket?
They are 6 inches. I've used that size for a couple years now and find them OK.
One of my problems is that the girls get very top heavy and I've had to tie them down so they don't topple over. I lost a 'Green Poison" last year due to winds...snapped the poor girl right in half...luckily it was 5 weeks into flower so there was an OK harvest but not what she could have been.
These girls have been in full flower since the 1st week of August.

I was thinking about the water supply?
If I put an old refrigerator out side and I put a barrel in the refer and drill some holes in the case,I could fill the barrel with nute's and pump the mix to the plant slow and use cooled water here?
