Outdoor Grow 2011

This year I am going to be doing my first grow, Outdoor Guerrilla Style. There is going to be two spots with four plants at each spot. There are four holes at each spot were 5 gal. buckets are going to be placed in. Multiple holes in each bucket for drainage, then filling up the buckets with Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil, then putting the buckets in the holes. Will be using the FF trio soil nutes.

I plan on putting the plants out around 4/20 :eyesmoke: giving them a decent amount of time to veg. and flower.

Line Up:
Barney's seeds: 5x Phat Fruity Fem.
Dutch Passion: 2x Shaman Fem.
Dutch Passion: 1x Hollands Hope Fem.

Concerns: 1. Dont know what to do after I germinate the seeds, since I cant let them sprout indoors. Have 2 choices either putting them in cups then bringing them to my spots, Or just putting the germed. seeds straight into the buckets.............which leads me to my second concern
2.Does FFOF soil burn seedlings?
3.Worried about getting root bound in the buckets. Cant put them straight into the ground cause height is an issue.(Plants are going to have about 8-10 hours of direct sunlight on a sunny day) if that helps.
4. Can water drip and flood the area between the bottom of the buckets and the bottom of the holes since there are going to be in the holes in the buckets for drainage?

Have done hours of research to try to make my first grow a success. Any input on the strains or tips of what I should do/change would greatly be appreciated. In advance, thank you for your time and input.

i use straight ff oceanforest from seedling through flower, no problems burning 4 over 2 yrs now.keep em in cups till they get a little root bound then transfer em to the buckets and if your worried about hieght top em. doubt they will get root bound in the buckets with no indoor veg time

sounds like you have a good plan there diggz. i also have never had an issue with FFOF burning seedlings. let them grow to have a few sets of leaves before you take them to your spot. if you can make it there daily with out drawing too much attention then you can plant them when they are smaller. be ware of slugs, snails and any other munching insect. they wont do much damage to a large plant but will kill a seedling. make sure you have access to water all summer. that little creek 100 yds from your site will probably dry up by mid summer. water bladders are fairly light and are easy to conceal with branches and leaves. later in the season you could put soil in the hole if your plants get a bit root bound. the roots will grow out the drain holes and into the soil.

I can get there every day if i wanted to.... Gonna be bringing water from my crib, in multiple gallon bottles to water the plants.

how many plants are you doing? they are going to need lots of water come mid summer. you may want to consider finding a way to use water from streams. a camping back pack frame modified to hold a 5g bottle works well if you are able to carry it. its a bit obvious but so is carrying a bunch of gallon jugs.

why are you puting the buckets in the holes? I would just add your medium to the holes unrestricting the roots. I like the idea of using back pack frame to carry water, back pack frames are very useful to a guerilla grower. Leave conatainers nearby to collect rain water.

-remember slug repellent
- consider putting up fences around each plant
- pinch the tops ( if you dont know what this is look into it, i have gone into detail on an earlier thread)
- prepare to stake up your plants especially when they begin to bud

Gonna be doing 8 plants. Yea I was planning on using a big backpack to carry the water. The reason i dont want to put the soil in the holes cause im afraid that the plants will get to big, but if there not I might as well save the trouble of bringing 8 buckets to the spot without getting noticed. If i dont use the buckets do you think that they will get over 4 n a half feet tall? Read that the Phat Fruity doesn't get that tall, but the shaman n hollands hope get medium to tall height. Not really trying to top the plants cause im afraid that if i fuck up it might stress the plants enough to herm on me.

bend them down if they get too tall, a little at a time. They will be good, if they are in buckets they will dry up mad fast brah. There are other ways to get around the plants being too tall.

tieing and pinching are your best options to keep the plants short. it takes quite a bit of stress to get a plant of decent genetics to herm. you are not likely to screw it up unless you butcher the plant. if your native soil drains well, planting them in the ground is not a bad idea. be ware of moles and other rodents, lining the hole with chicken wire fights them off. be sure to cover the top of the soil so the dont go over the wire. 8 plants in 5 gallon buckets are going to need about 2 gallons of water each, daily, when they are full grown. thats alot of water to haul daily.

If im going to put them in cups after they germ then transplant them to the holes after they sprout would this make them stressed?(I would be using the same soil in the cups and in the holes) Would it make a difference if i put them straight into the holes after they germ.?

EDIT: Got another question. My spot is surrounded by thorns, My spot used to be thorns till i cleared them out...PAIN in the ass. Anyway, when i was digging the holes there was a layer of roots i had to get passed, then after i passed the roots it was soil. Would the roots in the holes affect my plant roots when they get big enough?

Yea there are no roots in the hole, but wat i mean is will the roots spread past the hole and into the natural soil and the the roots in the ground effect the plants roots.

o nothing noticabul outside of the hole if it was big enouf and lined with a contractor bag(holds moisture) has to be purfurated the roots will do there thing there only there to hold the plant and uptake water and nutrents so if they spred past the hole its np
3x3 foot hole is ideal
