outdoor in winter

I was thinking of a idea but I am still not sure if it is possible.
You can make a winter greenhouse as I have heard and people grow plants in the winter. Usually these greenhouses have propane greenhouse heaters which I can buy. If I were to grow marijuana during the winter outside I was wondering if the low light of winter would mess up the plants flowering? I also would need to choose a strain that is best suited for the job.


Does anyone think that this is possible?

Im new to this too but i dont think there would be enough light. you need at least 18hr of light to veg them.

I am not sure if it would work but maybe I could use a automatic plant

Ya you would end up getting the plant to flower earlier then you wanted aaand it would not be as potent..sorry, would be easy if it were just that easy.

I could use a auto-flowering plants with a very low life span with a short veg cycle.

i tihnk it could be done if the heat is kept up, especially if its all snowy outside. Ive found that days after a fresh snow are the brightest, it hurts my fuckin eyes haha. People grow under lights from seed at 12/12. the dutch method or wahtever. i dont think you would need an auto flowering because the short photoperiod would serve that purpose already. i dunno, jus my thoughts

start them inside under floro's. shop lights work great. get them about 1 to 2 feet tall. put them in the greenhouse once you are ready to flower them. they will grow slower due to lower ligth levels but they will grow and flower. the heater will help A LOT.

snow is actuallly needed because snow actually works great for insulation.
The cold will come through the ground without it. fdd2blk have you done a winter grow?
I dont now anything about autoflowering plants and I thought maybe the sunlight does not matter and they start flowering only at 2-3 weeks no matter what.

I also heard of were to get propane lights made for a greenhouse. I dont now how well it works for vegatative growth though.

If that were true only people living in Alaska and northern Canada would be able to grow. 18/6 is for vegging indoors.

i started seeds and clones inside Jan 1. i placed them outside in a greenhouse on March 1. i harvested in june.

there are true things in this thread, everything in my first i believe to be true. do you have anything that would prove me wrong? i would like to know so i can stop spreading fiction haha, if i was, that is.

The greenhouse would protect the plants from frost. I believe I will make a greenhouse to start the plants in early but will not grow in winter.

Yes, the short days of winter will effect your grow cycle. It will really mess the plants up, I've seen it done. Growing in the winter is also a very different process from growing during the true season. Spring-Fall. It's almost like the plants know that its wint er and don't put on such heavy foliage resulting in more bud.
