Outdoor Lighting Question

hello world

As you can see I'm new to these forums but have been cultivating indoors for years. This is my first outdoor crop and I had a couple of questions.... I'm sure these have all been answered at one time or another.

1. I am located in the southern Bay Area. Right now we have 13 hours and 50 mins of sunlight and increasing everyday. I have some clones that I put outside and they immediately started to flower. Is this enough light for veg?

2. I put some clones outside more recently (2 days ago) but have put a 60 watt soft light above them as a cheap source of lighting when the sun sets. Is 60 watts per plant enough to keep plants in veg before full summer kicks in? As to utilize sunlight when it's out to increase veg time.

3. When is there enough sunlight for me to remove the lights?

4. How long do plants normally take to revert back to full on veg-mode? Will I have a terrible yield/quality when it's totally finished?

PLEASE ONLY ANSWER IF YOU HAVE PAST EXPERIENCE.

The 60 watt lights are plenty to keep them vegging. I'de say by may 20th or so you should be safe to throw clones out with no lights.

All plants are different but I'de say it's usually a good month before your plant will reveg and grow normal. Some come out of it better than others.

Much appreciated bro!!

Are you leaving the lights on all night? A couple hours after dark should be enough
So the sun sets at around 7:50-8:00 ish, I'm going to have the lights on from 8pm til 12am. So an extra 4 hours... or should I only add 2 hours of artificial light? 18/6 or 16/8 until mid may?

Thank you!! Do you know anything about drip systems outdoors as well?

I can't seem to control the left over water in drip system after pump shuts off... I have the pump on for 1 min a day, and it continues drip feed for another 2-3 minutes without power. What can I do to allow the extra water in main hose to empty out somewhere else rather than my plants? They are becoming overwatered.

My advice is one of two options. The first would be to cut back to every other day. In other words, water less often. Plants need oxygen as well as water. The second option would be only run the water for 30 seconds since you know it's going to "drip" even longer. If I were you, I would opt to water less often. Maybe wait until the soil is fairly dry before watering. As the plants grow, their requirements will change.

Clones are worse to early flower than seeds because they are already sexually mature. The hours of light before they go outside will effect them also. Most gradually cut back until they match the natural light when they are going outside.

I had a few early flower last year. I didn't have the option of adding light, so I just rode it out. Some grew out of it in a couple of weeks and had little effect on yield. Others took longer, and didn't really do as well as the ones planted later.

Good luck.
