Outdoors in the ground just isn't practical in todays environment. Do you agree?

Is growing in pots outdoors more practical than in the ground?

I have read many posts about gowing out doors and it seems that to many of you growing outdoors means in the ground I was wondering if anyone else outthere is like me and grow outdoors in pots all year round? In pots you can flower early if you like and it cuts out the risk of getting stole from, caught , and reduces pests drastically. I keep my plants under oaks at night for longer dark periods (not much only a few mineuts but it helps) and move them in full sun in the morning. My process has worked really well.bongsmilie happy growing

I'm actually in the process of converting to outdoor growing. To risky indoors, and I almost got caught last time. I'm new to the outdoor thing, so I'm not really sure how to go about it. I have, however, figured out that I am using a pot outside. Although, I'm not sure if I should put the pot in the ground, or just let it sit. What do you think?

depends on location and acces..ive never been outdoor with it before but i plan to so i can say this...in the ground for stealth op that if they are discovered NO trace to grower...i wud dig holes and fill them with medium of choice for transplanting b/c i CAN com back for matinence and feedings(HARVEST) in cuties case with pots im guessin you gota lil more freedom and time to mange your crop and they are probably close to you..i wud definately use pots if they wer in my back yard..but thas just me..im NO pro..look up guerilla growing. and check this guy out http://nevergetbusted.com/v2/home.htmlhe's on youtube too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIcMcRXB8zw

best weed comes from the ground.. and largest yields
Well, a lot of people do it. Honestly, I thought it was a good idea, but now I'm not sure. After thinking about it, I might use the ground. I live in a clay area. THe ground is rock solid after rain. I could dig a hole, fill with soil of choice, and the clay will act as a better barrier than a pot would.

using a pot will limit your yields. Say you have a plant in a 17 gallon, and you plant in June. Its going to be vegging for around 4 months. Then it has to flower. The pot can get rootbound way quicker than if it was in the ground.

Also, planting in a pot doesn't mean you can flower earlier. That doesnt really make sense, along with how if you plant in the ground it can get stolen easier? How? If I was walking and i found a plant in a pot, id probably pick it up and run. If it were in the ground i would wait till harvest to jack it.

A pot means you can flower ealier if you bring the plant inside and keep it in uninterupted dark. duhh. i would steal any potplant whether it was dro, ground, or pot.

i hear you about the clay.. my holes this year are in clay ... and i went up to check and see and half were filled with water.. so im gonna have to dig deeper and fill it with sand and gravel or something .. then my soil .. but ill have to dig about 4 feet down or til i hit sandstone

ok im gonna try to answer these as best as i can .. i started my seeds a week ago and they are still little seedlings .... i'd like to keep them indoors until about the end of april then i will get them placed in my homemade green house (pics in grow journal) until they are nice and used to the life outside of the greenhouse.. then into my holes ..

and for the light cycle just go 18/6 because im sure that would be less stress on the plants...

my seedlings are under 2 18'' t8 fluro strips and they were stretching til i removed the light dispenser/ heat sheild like thing off of them and they are doing fine .. each light only cost 15 bucks

depending on your weather should be the determining factor of when to move outside .. early may im sure my plants will be fine out of the greenhouse but growth wont be as vigorous

i think that planting in pots or ground is a matter of your situation. if your planting outdoors where you know you won't have to move them because various reasons (cold, fire, hurricanes) then planting in the ground will probably be best since your roots will have more room to grow unless you have a 50 gallon pot then i guess it wont matter :p
