P.Chunk

For those of you considering buying Barney's Farm Pineapple Chunk, take heed to my word. The plant grows fast, I mean really fast. according to my paperwork, this plant has been growing an inch a day for almost three weeks. Today the plant is 37" tall and growing. beleieve it or not, I think I got lucky and got a short pheno, cause this plant easily grows to 5 ft. So, you've been warned.

I have no pics for lack of camera, but here are some pics of a growers plant that I think is the same phenotype as mine.

By cruising around this forum you'd think the p.chunk was a waste of time, when the truth is the Derry (Barney's Farm) misrepresented the strain saying that it's indica dom when most plants grow over 5 ft, and that it "flowers to beautiful completion in 55 days..." when most growers report 9 weeks +. Those mistakes aside, this is a wonderful little plant grow wise. It's been easy to grow, vigorous, and not fickle. She takes the nutes well but can be a little difficult to clone. All in all, if the smoke is right, I would totally grow this strain again.

i grew the pc as a freebie and 55 days it is not, but the pheno i got was stellar. 10 week flower but absolutely great smoke. some of the fruitiest tasting and smelling stuff i have seen in a while, and it just looked killer. potency claims may have been a bit exaggerated but still quite potent. i've been cloning it ever since.

Really? That's good to hear!
I was really worried after reading the initial reports (most dated in 2010) I thought I was screwed. While I don't care if buds are airey or not, people were saying they were, and that it easily grows 6-7 feet tall, and worse of all that the smoke was mediocre at best. No one was stoked about growing it... I guess.
I had my doubts, but you read enough bad reviews and you start to wonder. I think either the first batch was more unstable, or idk what, but I'm happy with mine so far.

lol you can probably see me on some of those same threads fretting the same way you are about the shitty reviews, but i tried to give an update after i smoked the stuff. i don't know what to say about the shitty reviews. aside from the obviously wrong flower time i didn't find a thing wrong with my pc, and i'm only able to keep the genetics because of laziness and a bit of luck. you could be right about a bad batch. some of the reviews were so far off from what i got.

Would you say its more of a sativa type high or indica? Could you explain the high in detail if you can?

thanks for the review Beansly!I really appreciate it. I ordered Pineapple Chunk back in August or september and have been waiting for the right time to pop them. I reciently popped my 5 fem Pineapple Chunk beans along with 29 other seeds for my summer grow. I chose all my strains because they were fast flowering & mould and disease resistant. After reading all the reports a few months ago on the PC i was worried that it wasn't going to finish until November and that it was going to be a waste of time cuz like you said, everyone was saying it was too sativa dominant, not that good of smoke, and they would never grow it again... You just got my hopes up about the Pineapple Chunk again. how does it smoke?

it was definately what i would describe as a "hybrid high", but it did trend toward the indica side. no couchlock at all but relaxing and clear. the kind of high that makes the light from the tv look weird if you stare too long. not really giggly but i did find myself enjoying about 7 minutes of scrubs and i hate that fucking show with a passion.

Hahaha, that's acceptable.
I guess it's about true what people say about the smoke being "so-so." Not bad, but nothing special.
I guess I'll just have to find out for myself.
Did you plant not smell that much around week 3? If not, when do it start to smell. Mine is least smelling of the strains I'm growing right now.

Yeah man, I have one growing that is the same pheno, but like I said in the first post, these aren't my plants mate!
I was trying to set the record straight on all the bad rep pineapple chunk and barney's farm has been getting by showing a really awesome pheno someone grew
over on cannabis collective network;
https://www.ccnforums.com/showthread.php/533-pineapple-chunk
But yeah I'll definitely be posting some updates and a smoke repot when it's all said and done.
My pineapple chunk is gonna be on week 5 of flower this sunday.

my pc was the first one i could smell when i walked into the room. it had a real sweet smell, almost similar to fresh baked bread, but fruity. it began to smell once the frost appeared, around week 3-4. side note, my pc did get pollinated by a kush x haze that i had in there, and i'm actually about to harvest a plant from one of the seeds. it smells almost exactly like the pc but the buds are longer and thinner like the haze.

edit: i found a pic of the original pc plant at 9 weeks. ignore the leaf death, it was rough in the grow room.

Beansly, what was the total flowering/harvest time? how high was the final height? And yield? Just ordered PC seeds along with vanilla Kush & 8 ball Kush. I'm a first time grower, using a supercloset trinity, which has 5' in the flowering chamber. Bought PC because it said it wasn't tall & also flowering times were similar. Glad I ran across your post. Would love as much info as you can give. Thanks. Nice pics :)

There's one pheno that is short as advertised but it's a freak of a plant. A lot of these grow and smoke reports were done off either single seeds or the first run from seeds and most reported problems. Now personally i find it takes at least three runs of cloning from seed to start to unloct the potential of any new strain, they all like different medium mixes, ppm's and ph, flowering times etc. For example i just nailed that most of my chunk and lsd pheno's are extreme mg whores and fixing this has yielded amazing results already. I also believe breeders are incredibly selective when it comes time to advertise, remember they would have a huge number of plants to pick from to take photos of, measure and test for compound levels, the plant in the photo- you think it's the same one that got those amazing results? Doubt it. In my experience the pheno in the photo is generally the most common and will fit the physical descriptions given to the strains by the breeders ie size, flowering times, yield but be careful when trusting that the smoke report and grow descriptions descriptions come from the same plant and please grow a strain at least twice before judging it
