Palin and Husband Hate America

Garry, either your dense or you have lied.

Most states have a second constitutional convention as they get older. My state has had four constitutions in almost 200 years. The goal of the named group is to have a constitutional referendum because they want greater autonomy. For some people that means secede. For most it means becoming a commonwealth.

Just because Mr and Mrs Palin belong to this group means very little. It would be like saying GarryFroker is a democrat, which of course means he's a left-wing nut job, right?
......A huh......but why would Palin want to run for President if she wants Alaska to secede from the Union?

Are you really this dumb? Alaska is not going to secede. They may have a constitutional convention to revamp their charter.

You must really be a completely stoned left-wing total nut-job that has been sitting down in Texas staring into the sun, aren't you?

There are more than a few in Alaska who would *like* to secede. But I don't think there's anyone in Alaska who thinks that would ever actually happen. I mean, if they did secede, we'd have a tiny little Civil War, they'd be overrun by US soldiers, tanks, planes and ships within a day, and that'd be that. I can't imagine there's anyone up there dumb enough to go along with it, knowing what the result would be.

That doesn't mean there aren't some who wouldn't *like* to do it though, if it was somehow possible. Alaska would be one rich little country, with few mouths to feed. I'd probably be one of the first in line to apply to immigrate there, just to suck on the wealth from their juicy oil teat for the rest of my days.

According to the Alaskan Independence Party's web site:
"The Alaskan Independence Party's goal is the vote we were entitled to in 1958, one choice from among the following four alternatives:
  1. Remain a Territory.
  2. Become a separate and Independent Nation.
  3. Accept Commonwealth status.
  4. Become a State.
The call for this vote is in furtherance of the dream of the Alaskan Independence Party's founding father, Joe Vogler, that Alaskans achieve independence under a minimal government, fully responsive to the people, and promoting a peaceful and lawful means of resolving differences."

Heh, and if they chose option (2), we'd be there with tanks and bombers quite quickly, if necessary, to, ummm, 'seriously urge them to reconsider', as a politician might say.

The US Govt. bought the land that is called 'Alaska'. If they want it, they are going to have to buy it.

Classic reply. "When getting ass kicked attack the other person." I think that's #2 on the Republican debate tactic list.

Now who was it that stated this group didn't want to secede?

Sounds like a great plan for Commiefornia. Now if only we could add one more plank to the platform: Make San Francisco an Island. :bigjoint:

California's economy is the 7 th largest in the world. Why would you want them not to be a part of America? And San Francisco's shipping provides a lot of that. Also, if it wasn't for California and San Francisco we would have lost to the Japanese in WWII. You really need to do some research before you throw around those type of silly comments Vi. Not a very good retort on your part. Its childish and short sighted. For someone who complains about the bar not being raised to their standards in this debate forum you don't live up to it.

Pshaw, that ain't true! In fact, I'm trying to think of a funny conservative comedian...and I'm drawing a blank. Are there any? Colbert doesn't count, since A) he's not all that funny, and B) he *plays* a conservative, but I dunno that he actually is one.

Many comedians are Jewish, and the bulk of Jews are liberals. Many comedians are black, and almost all of them are liberal. In the humor arena, liberals pretty much own the store.

Bob Hope? Was he conservative? Heh, that's going pretty far back in time. There must be at least a few of them around now though. Weird that none are coming to mind. But then again, I have smoked a lot of pot over the years, and maybe some of my brain cells are taking a vacation.

I don't know, I'd say Ann Coulter is pretty funny, of course that might be because I understand where she is trying to come from with her jokes and quips.

Though it does scare me, Democrats are always so serious, no laughter, if you can't laugh at yourself you are taking yourself way to seriously.

I googled Republican comedian. The highest-ranked names:

Julia Gorin
Steve Eblin
Ralph Piss (ack, poor guy, what a name)
Rodney Carrington

There was another I recognize: Bernie Mac. But he's dead now. So, I guess there really are no well-known Republican comedians. Or maybe those guys I listed are well-known, and I'm just out of touch, I dunno, but I've never heard of them.
