Paranoia

it seems almost every time i smoke i get paranoid. when i first started and i wasn't supposed to be, i would swear up and down that i heard my parents banging at my door, or yelling downstairs. or there were other times where i thought i heard them physically fighting and slamming doors, or my brother getting attacked, cops showing up, fires, etc. and since i'm stoned out of my mind, i can't convince myself that what i'm hearing isn't real, it's just fake.

i know partially why, it's because it could start with just a quiet muffled sound, and then since i'm stoned i can't stop concentrating and focusing on the sound and ofc my mind starts playing tricks on me, and the realer and realer it starts to sound.

i've tried drawing my attention from the sound(s) whenever i start hearing them, but nothing works lol

is this common? and is there any way to stop it? because it usually blows my high completely.

I dunno. Back when I first started asmoking, I used to get super paranoid, becoming convinced the cops were on the way, opening windowns and trying to blow the pot smell out and so on. But your sruff sounds like it's based on realities you actually have experienced? How long have you been smoking?

All I can say is, IN GENERAL, paranoia is related to the newnewss of the experience. However, that being said, I have noticed that some strains TEND to make me more paranoid than otherts.
Ive been smoking over 40 years, but even tho I no longer set high and become convinced the sops are on the way, I do notice that when I smoke my Black Widow (for instance) I can sometimes get into a "what was that?" when I hear a noise outside or "OMG, who's THAT?" If the phone rings. Other strians and a phone ringing is just a phone ringing.
So, it may be the strain, it may be that you're relatively new to smoking or it may be that your life IS full of scary shit.

Basically.. this happens to everyone from time to time, some more often than others. It is you that decide what you think about, the pot just makes you over analyze it. If you're super ripped and you hear a noise, turn the tv or music up louder. If you have to go check it out, but also keep in mind that if you try to think about something else you enjoy and you start going off on all these different tangents that you are just stoned. I got to the point where I almost quit using marijuana because it was causing me to much paranoia/anxiety, but I got that under control by just telling myself to stfu cause I'm just stoned and move on to thinking about something else. Sometimes a walk around the block helps too. RELAX!

Whever I smoke or drink or take any other drug I always remind myself that i'm under the influence of a drug and that's what is responsible for what I experience. It's all about the right state of mind. Just chill and enjoy yourself.

Paranoia is the word which is often used in today's society to describe a person's trust in their outlook for the world. Although it is now very common word, but it became popular in the past two decades. And medically classified as a psychotic disorder.

When I start getting paranoid while using cannabis, I can usually tie it to my own personal behavior. Maybe I am doing lazy, greedy things at work and in my personal life. Maybe I am doing mean spirited things to other people. These don't even have to be big things, they can be little tiny thing, but they all add up. When I clean up my act, I don't get this very often when imbibing. Also I find if you use good genetics and hopefully grow it yourself, I am less prone to paranoia.
