Maybe they are just new to the site and look for other new member so that they can talk to someone who is also new and find out what they know before looking stupid infront of some of the ppl on here.

NGT has a point... some people would find the forums fairly intimidating first time out. Maybe making friends with a guy with a few posts would ease the transition.
