Question to anyone who has kids. Me and my wife is expecting twins before year end. How do you educate your kids about cannabis? How do you explain to them why you use it and why other parents don’t use it? Why is your medicine different from other parents?Any tips appreciated!

There will come the difficult day when you have to sit your drugs down and explain to them about teenagers.

Mine just turned 16. We hid it from him till the day he asked if I was growing Marijuana. About 12 going on 13. Told him the whole truth as I see it. Showed him how I grow and what. Assured him I would always honestly answer any questions. And if he ever wanted to try it, he would have to do it under my supervision.

Remove the lies, stereotypes, secrecy and taboos. Then it becomes no big deal. He is more interested in cukes, tomatoes and lemon trees.

Tell kid "No" if you want them to do something.

Firstly...Congrats !
Now I am no doctor or pro when it comes to parenting...not sure anyone is really...lol
I have 1 son...26 now and lives on his own/with girlfriend...anyways, I kept it well hidden from him right up until he was about 15 or so I think...to this day he has 1 addition...video games...rarely drinks and doesn't do any drugs...told me he didn't like the taste or smell of weed when he tried it.
Other family members that have children have used it openly around the kids from a young age...about 90% of those kids are in and out of trouble/jail and or are addicts themselves in some way.
So all I can say is its up to you and your wife, but this is my observation. I'd say hide it from them until they are capable of having an 'adult' conversation about it...most younger kids just think their parents are morons and go on a whim of 'that won't happen to me because I'm smarter..."...well I did...lol
Best of luck to you and the misses.

I had twins, you wont have time for weed, it just cuts into possible nap time.

Congrats!

Start them at a young age so they’ll be in jail sooner than later and no child support to pay!

Kids require lots of love and training. You have to condition them like Pavlov's dogs. When the fan timer kicks on, just blow shotguns in their face. Then when they hear that click when they're older they'll just go pass out on the couch during the on cycle. I'll probably have a book coming out at pandemics end with more child rearing tips.

When my son was 3 and a half I told my wife I was going downstairs to smoke a joint.
Next day son asks me if I’m going to smoke a joint and if I am if he may join me. I tell him no, he has to grow up to smoke a joint.
Fast forward to the beach this summer when he tells a nice lady with her children, “I’m 4 now, I can smoke a joint.”

we don’t keep it a secret, but we don’t want to broadcast it either. We told him that some people really hate it so best not to tell people about it. I grew up with parents who both smoked and it wasn’t a big deal. Hopefully that’s how it will work out.

Weed is not a gateway drug period. I’m betting that if you think real hard, those parents who’s kids grew up to have problems may have made some errors in raising their kids that didn’t have anything to do with them smoking a joint when their kids were around.

I am certain that daily smoking of MJ made me a better and more tolerant father. I have a lot of asshole tendencies, short on patience with a low tolerance for stupidity. Plus, playing with your kids for more than 20 mins at a time every day is fucking BORING, especially when they are young. Weed made it so much more interesting and gave me a big shot of patience. I was a single dad before my kid even turned two, and I had him every weekend and Wednesday evenings. My boy (now 19) told me recently that when he was small, he looked forward to me going into my office after we arrived home from picking him up from school, fighting traffic, and going grocery shopping. He said that he didn't know why I went into my office all grumpy and stressed, and when I came out after a few minutes I was fun and nice :) He found my grow when he was about 12, and we talked all about it and why he shouldn't ever say anything as it was illegal back then (not even medical yet.) He never did. We had talked about drugs since he was about 8 or so, and the risks associated with each one. I told him that if he chose to alter his mind when he was of age, weed was definitely the way to go. I am glad that we had all those talks - over the years he's watched a lot of friends drink excessively, get high and do stupid shit on opiates, speed, etc.. A few were in and out of rehab, and these were affulent suburban kids. But he has always just stuck with weed. He now helps me with my grows and is learning a lot quickly, and earns his small share of the harvests. My advice would be to not get intoxicated in front of your kids when they're young. You wouldn't get high in front of your small kids for the same reasons you wouldn't drink in front of them. But it isn't difficult to take a quick walk to the garage, or take an extra long shit to get a few hits in. You'll be fine. Kudos on the twins, best of luck, and sleep as much as you can before they get here...

Sell the kids, keep the green.

Love them, teach them Ethics and critical thinking. If you are in a legal state, don't hide it but explain to them why you smoke and how you came to that decision yourself (once they are old enough). If you are in an illegal state, you shouldn't encourage it imo. First the kid's need to have an healthy respect for the laws of the land to understand that life doesn't go exactly as you want. Later when they grow up a little more and have more understanding you have imparted to them they can decide whether to speed, smoke weed and talk to their parents more openly.

You don't even have kids yet so I wouldn't worry about it right now

I'd wait til they were around 12 to educate them on drugs

while they're young just keep it away from them and don't talk about it in front of them either

kids tend to remember new words/phrases they hear and always repeat them around the wrong people

if you don't already have one, invest in a bong

you're not gonna have 15 minutes to smoke a joint/blunt probably for the first 2 years

with a bong you can go outside real quick and clear a bowl in 5 seconds and get back to parenting duties

good luck and congrats
