Partial Harvest

Hey Im near harvest time, and I was thinking to harvest only the top part of the plant and leaving the bottom for maybe a few days or a week later to let the lower level branches flower longer because the higher branches was blocking the light. Is this a good idea or does that shock the plant too much and leaving it wont do anything? Also, its DWC, so itll be sitting in RO water, no nutes, because I flush my plants, so does that make any difference?

Also after harvest, I live in a very dry area, 30% and lower humidity. My first/previous harvest, I let it sit in a closet for a week and it was too long, and the buds dried out way too quick. Any ideas on how to help this? I tried a humidifier, and it didnt seem to help much. It came with a green taste, so is there a better way for me to dry it, other than just drying it for like 2-3 days, then putting it in a jar to cure (this is my plan as of now)?

I had to do the same thing for one of my harvests this year. It will put the plants into shock, but it will allow the trichomes that are left behind to mature. The shock could last up to a week which means that it may not produce any more trichomes or but material.

If the last time you dried it dried too quickly, i suggest you do it the same way you did last time, then put them in the jars to cure. Where i am its the opposite. Very humid. It took a week of indirect air blowing on buds cut from the stems to dry. I thought they got too dry, but being sealed in the jars during curing, you realize just how much moisture is still in the core of the buds.

Now all my weed is dried and cured, and its awesome.

I do partial harvests all the time since the top buds always mature quicker. It's also a way to spread out your stash so that you have fresh bud in the upcoming weeks. If you harvest it all in one, you may end up with dry buds once you get to the bottom of your stash.

Regarding the drying, I would repeat what the above poster just said. Don't let it air dry as long.

thanks guys, I will def try the partial harvest. As far as the drying and curing, I did dry them for a week and cured them, but i still think that I need less time to air dry, 2-3 days and "burp" the jar when they are curing. I guess the best way to know is to just do it. thanks

One more thing. Since Im letting the bottom buds flower longer, is it ok to keep the RO water? In other words, will I need to nute the bottom buds, or is the RO from flushing still okay?

To reiterate...
after flushing and taking the top buds (Ive just done this), should I put nutrient water back in to the rez for like a week and then flush again? Or will the RO water be enough to finish the rest of the harvest (the bottom buds I left on)???

When i last did a partial harvest (cola chop 1st) then harvest the rest of the plant 10 days later, i didnt bother to give the rest of the plant any nutes i was doing soil and plain water 7 days prior to cola chop, so in total about 17 days flushing for the whole plant

this time round i plan to flush for a bit more, im confident that even my organic nutes leave a horrible taste unless flushed for at least 2 weeks

Thanks man, I think I'll go no nute, even though I'm doing hydro, dwc. Anyone doing hydro agree/disagree?

PS. I have been looking at the tris for the bottom half of the plant, and they are still immature, the "balls" of the tris are just now forming, still clear. So in this case should I be adding nutes? or will the tri's mature with the RO water during flushing

in all honesty if you time is no limit then i would probably give them nutes again just to get them the extra juice they need, they would be fine without but you COULD yeild more by giving them nutes again if u get me. As long as u have the time to flush again fully. hopefully somone will be along with hydro setup and can provide better info than i can

im in the same boat and would also love an answer.. but as of now im leaning towards the side of giving them nutes for a bigger/ stronger yield then flushing again for about 6 days.

Yea I was leaning towards re-nuting, but its been a week, and I think Ill just give them another week them finish them off. I neeed the room for the next plants. Maybe next harvest
