Passive Intake vent (Through Panda)

Hi,

In the process of designing/building a micro grow tent, it will be pvc pipe frame with panda wrap/film - After some advice on how best to create the intake vent(s) through the panda? Im hoping to use some type of micro/insect mesh and prevent light leaks...I thought potentially some type of light weight plastic flange(insect mesh can be fitted in this), and then maybe a 90 degree elbow to eliminate light leakage? If flanges like this exist, would live to know where to purchase them?

Thanks

On my very first ever panda tent I literally took two cereal boxes, made two rectangular prisms, and connected them with a 45degree angled cardboard rectangular prism. Budget, but effective.

You could just buy any regular metal flange, 4"/6"/8", and get like 2feet of ducting. Push flange through your poly (near/against a pvc for support) and you can move the duct how you need to prevent light. Or maybe a Air-Filter in the flange instead of a duct, although I'm not sure if an Air-Filter is light tight.

Or a regular dryer flange. Like the type you put on the end of a dryer vent. They're usually like a square with plastic pieces in front to block things from getting in.

Ah excellent mate - much appreciated....I was worried about the plastic/metal flanges Ive seen available being too "heavy" for the panda to support...The commercial tents Ive seen just appear to have rectangular vents(passive), with no real way to prevent light leakage?

And man thank you! Just looked at some dryer flanges/vents - They look to be exactly what Im after! Awesome!

I would cut an “X” in the panda and use flexible or semi flexible duct bent into an upside down “U” and push it through. Then gorilla tape up where it passes through the panda film.

I attach black air conditioning replacement 1/4 inch foam over each end with a band or cable tie or bungee.

With the black covered ends close to the floor on each side of the panda wall no light should leak through either way. Helps to paint inside black or use black coated duct.

Also passively sucks in cool air from close to the floor and deposits it under the plants.

I use something like this with an active intake. The outside goes to a 6” in-line fan on. Speed controller. The black foam is stretched over the fan intake.

Thanks very much for the suggestions - I would "like" them, but apparently I've not yet earned the esteemed and coveted "Established Member" title, which is a prerequisite to having the "like" feature enabled (Understandable too....cant have all these noobs just handing out likes randomly lol)
