Hello everyone.

Welcome to my grow. I am ActToBeGood, and this is my first grow diary on Rollitup.Org. I am a licensed medical grower from Canada. The grow is a DWC of four strains: Pavesini, Purple Pug, Cookie Crumbs, and Gaiter. Gaiter is a purple strain on which I have been working.

The plants are marked in the cloner. Each seedling is at the corner of a 4 square in the colour code. Purple is Pavesini, Purple Pug is Yellow is Cookie Crumbs, and Green is Gaiter. The picture shows that Pavesini (purple) and Cookie Crumbs (yellow) have broken above soil level (I place the seeds in the plugs after they germinate).

The seeds have just germinated and are currently in my cloner, awaiting their move to 5-litre DWC buckets. The plants will be grown with Remo Nutrients under 2 MarsHydro 1000w lights. They are currently under a less powerful LED light. Further, I have a tower fan and a ventilation system consisting of a 6" inline fan for intake and a 6" carbon filter with a fan system for output. I am using an ActiveAqua pump and airstones to provide air to my plant's roots.

Please feel free to say hello and comment on my thread. I look forward to getting to know the great growers at Rollitup.Org.

Welcome to riu!

How have you been working the strain? Breeding to stabilize the purple, or just been running it for a while?
Thanks, CannabisCrusader. Nice to meet you as well.

Gaiter is a strain which I have been stabilizing as Purple. Although, it did start with a favorite Purple Pug pheno of mine, which grew all purple bud from day 1 of flower.

That being said, I should mention that my Purple Pug seeds are actually femenized s1s of that particular pheno of Purple Pug. They should grow purple from Day 1 of flower. This will be a test of that.

I have grown 2 Gaiter plants. Both plants grew beautiful dark purple crystal-coated buds. I look forward to seeing the results of this one.

I will be, in the future, crossing my Gaiter strain with Silverstax (Oreoz x Cherry Pie Kush Breath). But, not on this grow; perhaps next fall.

Attached photo is Silverstax.

I had a fatal issue with my seedling mat overheating, and had to restart my grow. I live in Canada, it became cold outside, and the Landlord cranked the heat, then the seedlings could not handle the extra heat from the seedling mat. Unfortunate, but it is what it is; lesson learned.

The strains during the grow remain the same, but I found a survivor seed in a beautiful Gaiter plant, which I previously grew, and chose to use the survivor seed.

Further, I learned about E.C., and I am modifying my water accordingly. I added 1ml Remo Micro, 1ml Remo Grow, 2ml Remo Magnifical, 5ml GreenPlanet GPF Uptake to my R.O. water, then topped up to 420 E.C. with Muskie Fish Emulsion.

My PH and my E.C. went up overnight, likely from the Fish emulsion or just stabilizing. I readjusted the P.H., and everything is now back on track.

As you can see, my reservoir temperature is 24 degrees Celsius without the heat mat. The normal range is 20-25 degrees, some say 20-23 degrees. Thus, 24 is actually a tad high, but my landlord controls the heat, and it is high because of -17 degrees Celsius temperatures controlled by a radiator.

This is my first E.C. cannabis grow, and I want to document the process well until I fine-tune it. This will allow me to review what works, what fails and what to expect in the future.

As a philosopher, I like to think, write and know things. As a chess player, I want to be 5 steps ahead of the game. As a scientist, I understand cause and effect.

My current grow tent is 4'×8' with a 1' extension for vegging plants, which is the current location of my operation. An LED light is in the grow location, but it is not needed until the seeds break the soil (top of the plug).

Things are growing well this morning. Purple Pug S1 has 'broken soil.' Further, I can see that Pavesini and Cookie Crumbs have germinated. However, I further inspected my Gaiter survivor seed and, unfortunately, it appears to be a dud. Consequently, I have replaced the survivor seed with an F1 feminized Gaiter seed.

Everything is well. Purple Pug S1 is growing excellently, and Pavesini has broken soil (plug).

I will add that Fish Emulsion is not the best additive to attain the E.C. I require. It is messy, and I am constantly adjusting my PH. However, I know that I cannot harm my plants with it, and I have honestly only known about E.C. for five days. Are there any alternatives?20240208_094107.jpg

The genetics which I am using are Calyx Bros., Nasha Genetics, Thug Pug and my custom strain Gaiter.

After considering the available options, and querying the great folks of RIU, I decided to add spigots to my DWC buckets for convenient E.C. testing. The idea was my own.

The others suggested turning the elbow holding the indicator pipe. I believe my idea carries much less risk of creating a mess, while significantly increasing the ease of attaining the sample. The spigots were $13 CDN for 6 and the 1" spade but was $6 CDN. Thus, it is a very affordable modification.20240208_135037.jpg20240208_133130.jpg20240208_133111.jpg

Another day, another seedling.

Cookie Crumbs was twisting herself in the plug, so I helped her find the light.

Gaiter has germinated, but is still growing in her plug. I expect her to be above soil by tomorrow's photo.

Check out the roots on my three-day-old Purple Pug S1 seedling. The brown part on the one root was stuck between the plug and the plastic on the plug hangar. It will self clean its own root.

Good morning RUI,

Things are growing okay, but I have met my first learning curve. I have a little nute burn on my Purple Pug S1; however, she is growing rather well despite the minor issue, and she will certainly recover.

If I have nute burn, then there is a cause. I used 1ml micro and 1ml grow. This must be too much, because I use the Fish emulsion because it is safe. Therefore, my next grow, I will reduce the micro and grow nutrients to 0.5ml each, and hope this works. I want to stay heavy (2ml) on CalMag because I use r/o water.

Nevertheless, as previously stated, she is growing incredibly well. Her roots are amazing and I am already considering her for breeding, but I will have to wait and see the flower and yield. I have never seen roots like this on a seedling in my life.20240210_075135.jpg20240210_075026.jpg20240210_075014.jpg

Gaiter has arrived. I will post another photo in the morning, Sunday, to mark the start of the week, then convert to weekly posts, now that everyone has been born. 20240210_185504.jpg

Today marks the start of Week 0.

Once again, top left is Cookie Crumbs, top right is Pavesini, lower right is Purple Pug S1, and bottom right is Gaiter.

Let's get growing. 20240211_085711.jpg

I just completed a reservoir change. The amount of Micro and Grow has been reduced to 5 drops each. I will report the results.
