Pawn's Brewery: The Novel Art of Distilling

With micro-distillery's on the rise, the art and hobby of backyard illicit moonshining has seen a sharp increase in popularity, due to shows like the much dramatized 'Moonshiners' and the reality driven 'Dark Horse Nation' featured on the History Channel. As a result, it only felt proper to join in on the collective hooch making, and forever etch me into the accolades of great drunken men like the esteemed Dos Equis man and the gritty shadow of Anthony Bourdain.

The first distiller model of interest was the Turbo 500 distillation still, but after further research I came to the conclusion that this setup would produce less than desirable results and its design is not suitable to upgrades. This led me to my second discovery of this polished stallion of distillery craftsmanship, the 8 gallon alcohol moonshine still with 2" dual purpose two piece tower. Not only does it bolster a polished shine a few yards shy of Mr Cleans' forehead but its design is fabricated from state of the art welding of stainless steel, that allows for a high grade purity end product.

My hopes and expectations of a distiller is one that can function as a dual purpose unit, effortlessly and efficiently distilling both vodka and whiskey interchangeably. I was this close on purchasing the Turbo 500 for the fact that its ease of use and accessibility made it a prime candidate in ones home. Although, its ease of use and accessibility came with the price of a product centered on the unilateral approach of functionality - which lowered its value as a dual purpose still. Whether its distilling water, spirits, or essential oils this rig can handle each function with grace and comes with the option of upgrading to any size milk can or tower.

The estimated time of delivery is this upcoming Friday. The 2 week shipping lead time is killing me with anticipation. Now, I think its about time I purchase a few books on how to use this hunk of glorified steel and a couple more books on how to craft the perfect jug of bourbon whiskey. I suppose my half Irish ancestry has caught up with me.

Holy Fat Jesus!

I pulled up to my house and saw the UPS man at my door. I ran in desperation to my doorstop as a saw a huge box sitting there. The package arrived earlier than expected!

This tower must have mystical powers, because I can't stop looking at my reflection in this thing.
:P

i workd with an electric one had a fancy name, like Mr Brew maybe. could be as easy as adding a gallon of bagged wine or adding a gallon of ferm mash, one hour later comes a quart of clear. four quarts of clear into the gallon and run again puts you past 190. bad ass little device for a couple hundies and a counter top, self contained, 120v.
tamisium distills artfully for 1500 but needs added heat.

I have not been able to get a run going. Been too busy with many other side projects. I'm a man who wears many 'Hat's'. But, when I do I will make sure to tweet to all my fellow RIU hood rat's about it.

My goal is to make a wicked solid batch of 'White Lighting'. Since, that's something you can't get at your local corner liquor store. ;)
