I am taking a few online courses to keep a certification that I have. One of the classes are about addictions. There is a discussion that goes out once a week and everyone is required to post thier opinion about the subject. This weeks was: Is marijuana a legitamate medication? Here are a few responses I got so far.

"There is no shortage of pain meds out there, some cause nausea. Marijuana is used to combat nausea. If someone needs nausea meds there are other non-addictive alternatives such as promethezine (phenergan). "

Addictive pills, much better. Heres another quote:

The Supreme Court for the State of California just made it possible to fire an employee in that state for testing positive for marijuana on a drug screening, even if a medical Doctor legally prescribed the marijuana. Does marijuana have legitimacy as a prescribed medication?
If an employee that has a doctor’s approval for marijuana and uses it at the work place he should be fired after all he could be affecting others at the work environment by putting others in danger and possibly giving the business a bad reputation. If the individual needs this for a medical condition he should use it outside of the work place (like home) or at his doctors office that prescribed it. I believe that if you open up marijuana a lot of the other illegal drugs will start to show up on the market to help people with medical conditions and this will just be the beginning. I have heard that marijuana has been used in the past to treat some conditions of cancer and it really helps out the patients but other drugs must be available on the market that are legal with less draw backs and non addicting. Again by making marijuana legal I think more people possible drug addicts will try to get this prescribed legally to help out with the current addiction. If medical science/technology can prove this through the FDA that this has the benefit, comfort, and healing powers that are required for the patient and no other drugs are available on the market then they could prescribe it as long as it is used in a controlled environment and the patient is monitored so he does not get too addictive to it.

A little better but still ignorant. Yet another:

Is it legitmate? It is very tough, I say NO because an illegal drug is just that. But what about the people who really need it, do they really or is there something else? Drugs are drugs, I see everyday the effects that drugs, legal or illegal do to families, friends, children, co-workers. Would marijuana be the worst drug they could prescripe, probably not. I think alcohol is one of the most destructive legal drugs I have ever seen, it destroys people and families in countless numbers. I think the risk of prescribing marijuana being abused is too easy. And where does profit come into play?, if we start presribing illegal drugs who sets the price and how high would it go? who supplies the drugs?, do we find a local dealer on the corner? Can you imagine the possiblities.

Can you imagine? fucking douche.
That was my rant. Had to do it. fucking ignorance.
