People who are familiar with or have Sciatica

just thought that this would be a good resource to check to find some people who currently have or have had sciatica in the past. what kind of experiences you've been through, any treatments or surgeries and other general stuff. 7 weeks ago tomorrow i woke up with this incredible pain in my lower back, and it has slowly but surely gotten worse and is obviously pain from my sciatic nerve. haven't had any x-rays or mri's or anything yet, because i don't have insurance and my doctor was real frank with me about the kind of costs that something like this could rack up so i'm taking his advice to try and apply for disability atleast temporarily to try and get some medical help before i get any test done and get any results, but i'm fairly sure that what i have is sciatica as everything i've read says that if it extends down below the knee, that it is in fact sciatica and mine is working it's way about 2/3's down my calf. just looking for general info and discussion, more detail can be gone into later if anyone replies. thanks.

Damn, bro! That sucks big time. I feel your pain though. I've waited tables, barbacked, and bartended for the last 11 years straight. I have constant pain in my lower right back.

I don't know anything about what you're suffering from, but I will tell you this:

Marijuana is the only pain reliever I use now. Opiates make me nauseous and I have an inherited high tolerance to pain killers and anesthetics, so I have to take a lot. They are good for those really bad days, but I'd stay away from them otherwise.

unfortunately, i live in kansas which has no use for such a thing as medicinal marijuana. as far as pain killers, i've been taking them pretty much steady for the past 6 or 7 years, since i had a car wreck. that's what gave me my original back pain, via a cervical wedge fracture and then bone spurs spread throughout my lower back. i've always made sure though, and been really strict with myself on how i take them and how i use them so i wouldn't develop a very high tolerance and could deal with the addiction to them, because let's face it. you can't take pain killers for 6 or 7 years and not be addicted to them. it's just a fact of life. but, that's out the window now, since instead of just 3 a day now i'm taking anywhere from 6-8 7.5/500 lortabs to even just make the pain managable. and i use that term loosely because i can really think of maybe about 8 seperate occasions when i actually felt fairly pain free. another bad thing is that the green situation is spotty at best, and even if i do get lucky, the best i can get is some fairly nice lime green schwag, compressed to hell and back of course. more often than not though, it's just your basic everyday schwag, dark green with some nice red hairs every now and then.

Hey People !! New to the site.Well you want to thank your lucky stars you don't live in Australia, have had extreme chronic back and neck pain, and my sciatia has progressed to radiating down all my limbs but is more like having an electricity running through my body all the time for the past 20 years and no way the pollies here will ever have medicinal mary J. I take Tramal, Valium and Celebrex every day and they do fuck all but if i have a puff it by no means eliminates the pain but eases it a little. Fuck i wish i had stayed in Amsterdam 14 years ago. Heaven on Earth !! or even living in Canada would be good. I would swap nice weather for sensible policies any day. The pollies here have no compassion for people in pain, just keep filling you up with pharmaceuticals!! So fuk em i try to do it myself but have failure after failure hence the name Blackthumb. Does anyone know if any company would successfully be able to send decent seeds to OZ. Its just the luck os the draw here and you never know what is going to come up. This country appears to going the opposite to the rest of the world, kissassing Gerge W. I f i ever get the chance i am outa here, Thanks for listening as it is a lonely life.
