Honestly, do I need to have perlite in my soil in order to keep my plants happy or can I just use Fox Farm straight?

ive heard of a couple of people adding some perlite to the ff but i use it right out of the bag
Ok, that's good. I'm setting up my first grow. I don't have the money for perlite so it's good to know it isn't a need. Should be getting my soil today :D

It's not realy needed. But I do mix. Only reason is in my setup soil can take 8 days to dry. But when I add 20% more perlite it's 3-4 days.

I think so but others will say no. That is something you need to findout on your own with your setup and plant likes. I don't add anything till I see leaves discoloring. So every gallon I add to soil I want 1/3-3/4 to come back. But that's just me. I should add I'm in a CEG room so evaporation isn't there. Reason why I do what I do. Each location is different.

I like the added drainage..freakin gnats love wet soil and more air to roots.

Oh ok. It's my first grow and it's in a tiny pc case. Hoping by the time they finish vegging I would have converted my closet for them. Whenever I get bigger pots I'll grab perlite. Seems like everyone uses it anyway.
