I want to share my idea for full pest control.

This season i got thrips , mites and very very small amount of pm..

Its the first season outdoor we had this problem.

We are going to try a new product.

I have emailed the makers and asked if my idea would work. Im waiting for a reply.. I DO NOT KNOW IF P.H 5.5 is correct or if any p.h adjustment is needed.

First lets talk about the products from Sierra Natural Science (sns) and few others.here are some quick notes for me and you all.

Sns 203 will kill all bugs but spidermites.use as foliar every 5 days and soil drench every 7 days. Never mix sns203 with any other sns product or any product. Mix sns 203 with water and ph up or down only. foliar spray at night/ lights off

Sns 217 for spidermites and it will work like a charm. Foliar spray. Never mix sns217 with anything but water and ph up or down. Ph to 5.5 spray every 7 days.foliar spray at night / lights off

Sns 209 astemic pest control can be mixed with nutes or water. Do not foliar spray with sns 209.. stop use 14 days before harvest. Use every watering /feeding .unless using 203 sns soil drench You can use it daily or every few days. It takes about 1-2 weeks to start working and will continue to work for up to 3 weeks. Once you notice it starting to work, discontinue use. Reapply every 14-28 days as needed. Over usage may cause leaf curling and it’s a waste of product and money.

Sns 244 fungic fighter can be used 2 days before harvest . Foliar spray every 7 days. Spray at night/ lights off. P.h to 5.5

Cinnamon!...Put your sterilized potting soil in your washed pots. Put the seeds into the pots just below the soil surface, according to the needs of each plant species. Cover the seed, if necessary, and sprinkle with powdered cinnamon the powdered spice of your choice.

Diatomaceous Earth sprinkle at base of stem and avoid watering it. Will keep bugs from walking up the plant and kill off any bugs that come up from soil/roots.also buy the powder machine to apply as a dust. Were gloves, eye protection and a mask. When dusting.

SNS-203™ Pesticide Soil Drench/Foliage Spray Concentrate

SNS-203™ Concentrated Natural Pesticide Soil Drench and Foliage Spray is made up of pure Rosemary and Clove botanical extracts. The botanicals are all food grade GRAS (generally recognized as safe) materials. SNS-203™ Concentrated Natural Pesticide Soil Drench is exempt from EPA registration under minimum risk pesticides exempted under FIFRA section 25(b). SNS-203™ Kills and Repels Fungus Gnats, Root Aphids, Thrips, Shore Flies and White Flies.

How It Works
High moisture levels in soils and around pots encourage the development of fungus gnats, shore flies and other pests.
Fungus gnats will feed on fungi and decaying organic material in the soil. If a fungal food source is not readily available, fungus gnats may feed directly on plants. During the propagation of cuttings, fungus gnats may feed upon the callus. This may slow down or completely inhibit rooting. They can also damage the roots as they feed upon seedlings and potted plants. On many thick and succulent stemmed plants, larvae may tunnel into stems and cause plants to wilt and die. Larval feeding upon young roots encourages the development of root and stem rots such as Pythium. When this occurs, plants will be stunted with reduced growth and leaf drop.
Shore flies feed upon algae and do not directly feed upon plants. However, their frass (droppings) on plants, in addition to their presence, may be objectionable to customers and may carry other diseases.
SNS-203™ Concentrated Natural Pesticide Soil Drench active ingredients, attack fungus and algae and cause the pests to dehydrate their body fluids and dry up.
When used as a foliage spray SNS-203™ will control and eliminate Greenhouse Thrips, Fungus Gnats, Root Aphids, White Flies and Shore Flies.
Our Product has been tested in our lab on delicate new growth, clones, cuttings, tomatoes, roses and other plants.

Uses
SNS-203™ Concentrated Natural Pesticide Soil Drench can be used on a wide variety of plants, vegetables, and even trees. When applying the product take caution not to apply to any buds on the plant, in doing so this could result in burning the buds. SNS-203™ can be applied to soil or sprayed on fruits, vegetables, and plants varying from; apples, apricots, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cherries, chives, corn, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, parsley, fuchsia, roses, flowers, houseplants, etc. SNS-203™ Concentrated Natural Pesticide Soil Drench is fully bio-degradable and is non-toxic to animals.

Directions for use:
Soil Drench:
Mix 4-8 TBSP (2-4oz) of concentrate to 1 gallon of water. Thoroughly drench affected and surrounding area.
Foliar Spray: Mix 4-12 TBSP (2-6oz) of concentrate to 1 gallon of water. Spray Foliage to point of runoff.
Repeat 2-3 times as necessary. Do not mix with other chemicals or fertilizers.

SNS-209™ Systemic Pest Control Concentrate
Water it in, Wipes em out™
SNS-209™ provides a barrier for plants to protect them against damaging insects. The SNS-209™ barrier is harmless to the plant but distasteful to mites and other insects.
SNS-209™ Systemic Insect Control is made up of 100% pure botanical extracts that are highly water soluble. The botanical extracts are all food grade GRAS (generally recognized as safe) materials.
SNS-209™ Systemic Insect Control is exempt from EPA registration under minimum risk pesticide exempted under FIFRA section 25(b).

How it Works:
Spider mites, White flies, Nematodes, Scales and other insects destroy plant cells by sucking out their fluids or chewing up the cell walls. SNS-209™’s unique formula works by allowing the plant to uptake a small amount of rosemeric acid from the rosemary plant. As the plant distributes the rosemeric acid throughout its cell walls, a barrier is soon constructed. When an insect starts to suck or chew on the plant it comes in contact with the rosemeric acid and causes the insect to stop eating and move on.

Uses:
SNS-209™ Systemic Insect Control can be used on a wide variety of plants, vegetables, and even trees. SNS-209™ Systemic Insect Control can be used on fruits, vegetables, and plants including apples, apricots, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cherries, chives, corn, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, parsley, fuchsia, roses, flowers, houseplants, etc.

Directions for Use:
Add ½ TBSP (1/4 ounce) of concentrate per 1 gallon of water every time you water or fertilize. May use in your reservoir in conjunction with nutrients. You can use it daily or every few days. It takes about 1-2 weeks to start working and will continue to work for up to 3 weeks. Once you notice it starting to work, discontinue use. Reapply every 14-28 days as needed. Over usage may cause leaf curling and it’s a waste of product and money.

Advantages
The first advantage is long term control. A foliar application of an insecticide is constantly exposed to the elements. Rainfall, irrigation and sunlight all play a part in the dilution of the insecticide. A systemic product is protected by the elements because it remains inside the plant’s leaves, stems or blades.
The second advantage of systemic insecticides over conventional insecticides is that the entire plant is protected from attack by insects, grubs, mites. Root systems, stems and leaf portions of the plant all contain a small amount of SNS-209™, not just the leaf surface.

SNS-217™ Spider Mite Control RTU
SNS-217™ Spider Mite Control is made up of 100% pure Rosemary botanical extracts. The botanicals are all food grade GRAS (generally recognized as safe) materials. SNS-217™ Spider Mite Control is exempt from EPA registration under minimum risk pesticides exempted under FIFRA section 25(b).

How it Works
Spider mites destroy plant cells by sucking out their contents and SNS-217™’s unique formula works by providing a barrier which is harmless to the plant, but fatal to the mites. The natural salts from fatty acids derived from Rosemary extracts disrupt the insect cell structure and permeability of its membranes. Cell contents then leak from damaged cells and the spider mites quickly die. Some of the components of SNS-217™ are also absorbed by the plant and then suppress the life cycle of the mites. SNS-217™ Spider Mite Control kills the spider mite eggs as well by coating the eggs with an oily shield that disrupts the respiration to the egg; therefore no hatching will occur, they will just dry out Our Product has been tested in our lab on delicate new growth, clones, tomatoes, roses and other plants.

Directions for Use:
Spray directly onto insects and infected areas until thoroughly covered. Complete coverage of all plant tissue is necessary for control. Make sure to spray under the leaves where spider mites hide and lay their eggs. To reduce the chance of burning do not use under direct sunlight or grow lamps. One thorough application is usually enough, but heavy infestations may require a few more. Use on a 7-14 day schedule for preventative maintenance.

Helpful Hints:
Do not use with other oil based products as they may block our product from working.
Though we don’t recommend spraying buds, we have had good feedback

Our Sprayer
SNS-217™ Spider Mite Control comes in a ready to use 32 ounce (946.3 ml) spray bottle with a unique any direction sprayer. Our unique sprayer allows you to spray at any angle you choose. Since spider mites hide on the under side of leaves this sprayer will have no problem at all getting those hard to reach spots.

SNS-244C Fungicide Concentrate

SNS-244C™ Fungicide Ready to Use Controls Fungi, Molds & Mildews

SKU: N/ACategories: Natural Fungicides, SNS 244 Fungicide Concentrate, Broad Mite Control
Description
SNS-244C™ Fungicide is made up of 100% pure Thyme botanical extracts. The botanicals are all food grade GRAS (generally recognized as safe) materials.
SNS-244C™ Natural Fungicide is exempt from EPA registration under minimum risk pesticides exempted under FIFRA section 25(b).

How it Works:
Airborne ‘pathogenic’ or disease-causing fungi get inside the plant either by making a hole in its skin (epidermis), or by growing in through the plant’s breathing holes (stomata). Then they either poison and kill the plant cells before absorbing food from them or simply steal nutrients from the living cells. Some fungi live in the soil and enter roots. They can either block the water-conducting cells or kill them, causing the plant to wilt. In many cases the plant is seriously damaged or may even die. Such pathogenic fungi can threaten our crops. As a topical spray SNS-244C™ Natural Fungicide kills the fungus through a biochemical interaction on the spores. Some of the components of SNS-244C™ Natural Fungicide are also absorbed systemically by the plant, suppressing the life cycle of the fungal spores and nurturing the plant cells to increase the plant’s ability to fight the disease. Our Product has been tested in our lab on delicate new growth, clones, tomatoes, strawberries, lettuce, spinach, roses, potatoes, citrus, apples and other plants.

Uses:
SNS-244C™ Natural Fungicide can be used on a wide variety of plants, vegetables, and even trees. When applying the product take caution not to spray any buds on the plant. Doing so could result in burning the buds sprayed. SNS-244C™ Natural Fungicide can be sprayed on fruits, vegetables, and plants including beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cherries, chives, corn, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, parsley, fuchsia, roses, flowers, house-plants, trees etc.

SNS-244C™ Natural Fungicide is fully bio-degradable and is not toxic to animals.

Directions for Mixing SNS-244C™:
Mix 16 oz of SNS-244C™ to 1 gallon of water. For best results use warm (70 degree) Distilled or “Chlorine Free” water. Mixed solution may be stored or used immediately.

Directions for Use:
Spray at night or when the lights are off and the plants are completely cooled down. One thorough application is usually enough, but large infections may require additional applications. Just one spray every few weeks will protect your crop from these diseases.

If fungi and mildew is your target I would first play around with calcium chelates of humic or folic acid.
It increases calcium uptake by many orders of magnitude. The calcium helps to form pectin under the epidermis.
This, in turn, acts as a barrier the fungi can not drill in to.

We have been hearing a buzz recently, and even some confusion on the topic of wet vs dry application of Diatomaceous Earth.

  • Is DE effective wet?
  • What is the advantage of applying DE wet?
  • How do I know whether to apply DE wet or dry?
  • What is the ratio of DE to water?
As you may have seen in some of our other articles, depending on the situation there are two primary ways to apply Diatomaceous Earth (i.e. Wet or Dry.) What may have been unclear, are the advantages of using a wet application method, and how it works once you apply it. If you mix DE with water, and spray it onto trees, in your garden, underneath your house, on the ceiling of your patio, DE must dry out before it will kill any bugs.

Pest Control Basics
To effectively answer this question, let's start with the basics of how DE works as a pest control substance.

DE kills bugs with what we call a mechanical action; DE is very coarse and absorbent, which means that when insects walk through it, it scratches through and absorbs the waxy, oily coating that protects their exoskeletons. With that layer compromised, insects are not able to retain the moisture they need, and they dehydrate and die.

When you're developing a plan to combat a pest problem, you should always consider using a dry application method first.
The mechanical action we described above is only effective under dry, controlled conditions; even a lot of humidity can affect DE in its pest control work. Because of these complications that can arise out of applying DE wet, it should only be used when really needed.

Pest control can be a daunting challenge. Oftentimes pests aren't where you need them to be for easy extermination. They may be crawling on the underside of plants, high up on trees, or spread out over a large area.

We recommend the wet application method when applying DE in awkward, difficult to reach areas, or large areas in direct sunlight. By mixing DE with water, and using a spray tool, you can reach difficult or large areas, and DE will stick to everything you cover.

Remember, DE will not kill bugs while its wet, but once it dries out it will retain its bug killing properties.

DE Slurry
DE mixed with water is commonly known as a slurry. To make a DE slurry, follow this ratio:

    • ½ cup DE (8 tablespoons) for 2 cups of water
You can apply the slurry with a spray bottle or a pressure washer. Once you mix the DE in the water, the DE will settle to the bottom, so you need to shake it up frequently as you spray.

Keep it simple with your pest control jobs! The season is heating up, and before you apply DE wet or dry be sure to have a plan,

got an email from the makers of sns

" If you would like to have a foliar that you can mix with the 244, I would use the 217C.
203 should be used alone.
209 can be mixed with the 244 & 217C also.
The 203, 217C & 244C are all oil based products, they will stay on the plant for 3-5 days, so you would not have to treat the plants every 24 hrs.
Every 2-3 days will be fine though. "
