I keep a small liberal democrat in my basement that I make work for food. Is that on the list? I'd hate to give him up...he's up to 2 hours of work a day without feinting or threatening me about his civil liberties... I think he's from Connecticut too...that's a coincidence.

The bill names THESE animals as those to be considered potentially dangerous. By strict wording of the section, any animal or breed thereof not specifically named herein would not be subject to this law. Don't get all worked up about your dogs and cats, fish, birds, etc. They have nothing to do with this legislation. IMHO if you own anything listed above as a PET, maybe YOU should be confiscated and destroyed. Smarten up people.

Perfect case in point why 'wild" animals should not be kept by private citizens.

(f) ANIMALS OWNED LAWFULLY PRIOR TO PROHIBI- 6

TION OF
IMPORTATION.—This Act and regulations issued 7

under this Act shall not interfere with the ability of any
8

person to possess an individual animal of any species if
9

such individual animal was legally owned by the person
10

before the risk assessment is begun pursuant to subsection
11

(e)(3), even if such species is later prohibited from being
12

imported under the regulations issued under this Act.
(D) does not include any cat (Felis catus),
7

cattle or oxen (Bos taurus), chicken (Gallus
8

gallus domesticus), dog (Canis lupus familiaris),
9

donkey or ass (Equus asinus), domesticated
10

members of the family Anatidae (geese), duck
11

(domesticated Anas spp.), goat (Capra aegagrus
12

hircus), goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus),
13

horse (Equus caballus), llama (Lama glama),
14

mule or hinny (Equus caballus x E. asinus), pig
15

or hog (Sus scrofa domestica), domesticated va-
16

rieties of rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), or
17

sheep (Ovis aries), or any other species or vari-
18

ety of species that is determined by the Sec-

retary to be common and clearly domesticated.

There you go, straight from the link. Your pets will not become illegal. This bill is simply the govt. attempting to protect those of us who are a bit brighter from those who don't think. It's a shame, and I fully agree that the fed is bloated and oppressive, just as Texas believes; but the fact still remains that way too many people think it would be "cool" to have ownership of some wild animal, purchase one and then realize they can't care for these animals properly. Florida is FULL of non-native species that crowd out the natural wildlife. This wouldn't be an issue if "pet" owners took more responsibility for their own actions. Hell, I'd agree that anyone who realizes they can't care for their dog or cat and releases them into the wild should be fined as well. But this sort of thing happens in all walks of life, in every society. The stupidity of a few requires the legislating of the whole. MJ is the same way, it would be a much easier fight to legalize if the real criminals weren't out there giving our wonderful plant such a bad image. If you buy from a gang member or the like, it's your fault it's illegal. If you exact revenge on someone who owes you a few dollars from a purchase, it's your fault. If you pinch from others bags and not give them what they're paying for, it's your fault. If you drive high, it's your fault. If getting high interferes with your ability to contribute to society, it's your fault. Mine never crosses my doorstep, and neither do I for the rest of the evening after I've smoked. Rather than get all up in arms about the govt needing to legislate environmental protection, live responsibly yourself and pressure those around you to do the same. For those who are true enthusiasts of wildlife, and take proper care of your imports, I do feel for you, however there is far more idiocracy in the USA than brilliance. And so the story repeats itself over and over......

Wolves and foxes can be good pets.
See, it's when people abandon common sense and do stupid shit that the damn government finds another thing to regulate and find ways to punish or imprison people. Why anybody would want to make ANY of the animals on that list a PET is beyond me. Is it just me, or does it take a genius to realize that a crocodile, komodo dragon, or rhinocerous doesn't make for warm fuzzys??!! Idiots! :dunce: Keep it up dumbshits, and you'll soon have no choices to make on your own. Probably sounds like a godsend to big government liberals out there though.
