Do soil ph meters need to be calibrated or at least cleaned? Never had to clean itbfore and always workd fine for me. The other day i left the ph meter in the pot for 10 minutes on accident and ph was 5.5 i knew this was wrong i took it out checked it again and it was its normal around 6.7 was this off reading because it was left in the soil and sun outside for 10 minutes? is my ph meter trashed? i always thought it was fine and always keep it in till it appears to stop moving around 30 seconds. but one time i did accidently leave it in overnight.

If it is the metal probe type get a kitchen scourer or sandpaper or something rough and scrub it up, you want the metal to be exposed to the soil and after a while they get a coating on them. I clean mine once a week and i leave it in the pot 24/7 as mine has a moisture meter also

Ty dood for real i had a coating on the metal prongs. Im in late flowering. Broke off one of 5 main colas and split my dank plant down the center of two main colas god im having the worst time here lol Anyway ill guess this waS just the excess stuff on it Throwing the ph off. ill clean it and try again. i hope i didnt give them too much ph up yesterday. I just assumed theywere at 6.7 or so with my second ph reading. Who knowshopefully the probe was just catching a bad spot i do have little release nuet chunks from the soil floating around. Maybe i stabbed one and it threw off idk? What is a good accurate cheap ph meter that is trust worthy and reliable? Also ive never used ph with mouisturiser i stick my finger in the soil and water when dry. what level of moisture do you water at? thanks

If you are phing ur nute solution then you should not have a problem with ur soil being the wrong ph and always delute ur ph solution with water so it don't bond with ur nutes use 20ml for every gallon of water that u mix up those ph soil meters are not worth the money

I just use dropper test for PH a good reliable soil tester will not be cheap I'd think, I don't really pay attention to the meter its just there as a reference really, it has light, moisture and PH and was cheap as. Just make sure the metal on the prongs is shiny, don't worry if you shave some metal off it will work better if you do.

If you dilute you're PH adjusted water then it will change the PH

Ya it won't be as strong but it don't allow chemical bonding to ur nutes try it my friend and u will see that u don't have to use as much ph up or down to change the ph of ur nute solution
