well i have a hanna instruments thing but i dont know if it works or works properly and i dont have the solutions it asks for to re calibrate it. is it worth spending money on the solutions if somehow its messed up or the probe is? the probe inside looks like its melted is that normal? anyways umm i have a manual drop kit ph tester.

i was wondering if i am using say a half gallon jug of water.. and the ph is a little high. how many drops of ph down is required to affect the whole half gallon of water?? a couple drops a teaspoon?
also do i stir the water after the drops go in or will it spread itself after making contact with the water... i spent almost 45 minutes yesterday trying with a half gallon and ended up going to a small spray bottle where it was easier to read seeing the drops i put in seemed to affect the water more.. I DUNNO!! someone help me please.. im going to need to feed the babies water again soon!

you need to calibrate. Get the solution, its cheap. Once you have it, store the hanna tester with the tip in the solution 24/7. Do not let the tip dry. If you do this, u should be in good shape.

yea you want to keep the tester stored with the tip in the solution. This will keep it calibrated and if its off you will see straight away. Just turn it on before u take it out of the solution and it should read at the proper level. Even if u aren't doing hydro u can test your water, nutes and runoff

also u don't need to buy both 4.0 and 7.0 solutions you can get by with just one. I use 7.0. Also if your tip is bad u should be able to buy a replacement tip for cheap. Sorry can't help with the other question maybe someone else can chime in there

nah youve helped alot. I'm just curious about the amount of ph up or down to ad to adjust How sensitive is that stuff and how does the water take to it? It seems weird to me that a couple drops can affect a whole half gallon of water but this is why im asking!
