Well, this is the hydro forum, so he figured that you meant hydro.

For hydro growing, pH should be close to 5.8, range of 5.5-6.1.

For soil growing, pH should be close to 6.5, range of 6.2-6.8.

And use a pH Down product like phosphoric acid or nitrate acid, never lemon juice or vinegar.

i got told that using sulphate of ammonia brings down the ph level... am i right by saying that?

It may, but it may interact poorly with other nutrients/ph regulators (eg. baking soda and vinegar as an extreme example)/your plants (eg. bleach).. I don know, Ive never heard of ammonia sulphate bein used to adjust ph..

Personally, Id jus get ph down and not worry

Well, I'm running aero and soil, so my res should be about 6 and soil about 6.8? Or is aero different than hydro for some reason?

Also, now that i got this started i might as well ask. What are the perfect conditions for the res? like temp ph and then air temperature/humidity. just everything in general lol.

thanks

I have yet to get a digital ph tester :( but for now, I have the bottle of dye drops to test the ph. I've had good success putting the ph at what looks like about 5.4, then let it raise on it's own over the next few days until it needs to be lowered again.

anything natural in a hydro system usually isn't a good thing, it can cause problems. try it if you'd like, and see how it goes, or you can get the right stuff for the job.

res should be 5.8 and dont correct down until it drifts up to about 6.3...soil, idk, but if potroast said it ...you can bank on it

Or is aero different than hydro for some reason? aero is hydro....just one form of it that's all
