Photos of Uprooted Plant

One of my plants turned out to be male, so I decided to uproot it today. I was very surprised at the root mass I found. It was very solid and held onto the soil nicely. This plant was germinated in Root Riot cubes and fed little other than molasses and Fox Farm Microbe Brew and was planted in a 50/50 FFOF and worm castings soil.

I tried to be very gentle, but I lost between a third and half of the roots. I thumped the base of the plant to remove as much soil as possible. I then rinsed it, which caused even more roots to break.

I just thought someone might be interested in taking a look at what goes on beneath the soil. I'm not sure what variety this was. It was the bag seed I was practicing on before planting my true seeds.

Like I said, the root mass was 33-50% bigger when I first removed it from the pot. You can see the main tap root running from the bottom of the cube. I accidently broke off about a half inch when taking the photos. It could have been even longer as I may have broken off more removing the soil. Anyway, maybe this will be insightful for someone. I see photos of cuttings taking root all the time, but I've not come across any photos of uprooted plants that have been growing for a while.
