Hi there all. My name is Mike and I am a first time grower, long time toker. I have read serval internet vids on grow rooms (4-5) and took the info from them and just had at it. I am going to enclose pics of what I have done and I have some questions for y'all... But first here is a detail list of what I am using
Ebb and flow
Lighting:
(4) 600w MH/HPS (running Hps bulbs)
on eletronic timer for 18 hours in veg. and 12 hours in flower. Should I run sperate bulbs durring the different stages of the plants life? Does it really make a differnce?
Air:
Intake- Dual Fan with a 450 cfm rating. Can suck in, and blow out. Should I stay on sucking in? Or blowing out creating a negative air pressure in the room?
*(2) 70lb Charchol filters. I dont know the specifics becuase I enclosed them in a box.
H2O:
Regular tap water with 3 air stones for aggitating. Should I filter the water before filling my resivours? Any tips on nutrient cycles would be awesome.
Pumps:
(2) 50 gallon resv. each with a little giant make NK-1 Model pump and 210 GPH.
Grow Medium:
Hydroton 501. 1 1/4 of a 50 lb bag in each tray. Should the pellets be totally submerged in water? Should I be able to see water, or only pellets? Do I have to clean the medium after every nutrient cycle?
Nutrients:
Help!!! Anything on this subject. I have heard ppl say " read the directions" but I dont even know where to go before that.
Clone Shack (Ebb and Flow):
H20 pump: Little giant PE-1 170 gph
Resivior: 20 gallons
Tray: Hydroton 501 pellets in a 15 gallon tray.
Air: Just a small fan that can be ajusted above the plants and right on them.
Ok, thanks for reading this far, here are some questions, then some PICS of my room.
1. What have I done right?
2. What have I done wrong?
3. What else is a "must have" that my system is needs and/or is lacking?
4. I know that alot of r growing is personal preference, but with in my system, is it worth it to keep my plants in a "vegitative room" (my little shanty shack) seperate from my flowering room (the main (4) 20 gallon trays in the room. Or... is it about the same just growing my clones to a certain hight and then Veg them and flower them under the HPS light in the (4) 20 gallon trays?
5. I have heard that Ph is super important, so I bought some Ph up and Ph down. But my friend who got me into this said that was a waist of money because more then likely my nutrients will balance it out for me... any thoughts???
6. Again with Ph, my friend said I should skimp on a Ph meter. The one he pointed out and said for me to get was like 200$!!! WTF!?! he just said that Ph up and down was over rated and now I need a 200$ tester? Can someone vouch for him? Does anyone on the board use a 200$ or more Ph meter?
7. In my cloning room, my friend suggested I divide the space into 2 parts: low and high. I already bought a 2 lamp T5 4' lamp fixture and I thought that would be more then enought to grow my clones big enough to move them over to the HPS's (assuming I stick with the Veg/flow under the same lights in the same romm). But know he says I need to spent hack off another limb to get a 4 lamp T5 fixture for the namely dubed "shanty Shack". Isn't the 2 lamp T5 fixture just fine untill its time to move them? What is the thinkin' behind this.
I know guys, these are alot of newby questions but reading around here you guy seem very knowledgable and I am getting clone in 4 days. so I hope yall can help me.
8. Do any of you have a personal nutrient chart they woud like to share with me? My friend is going to set me up with his nutrient schedule but I would like some others ppls (if you dont mind and its not to intrusive) just so I can compare and maybe experiment in the future.
