Plant help.

Hi all,
So I recently upgraded my lighting and my plant is not taking it well.

Its been like 3 days and its getting worse.

Originally, it was under a 150w metal Halide that was used to grow corals in a salt water fish tank. I was told this isnt ideal for Plants, so I pulled the plug on it and bought a 400w Ballast and fixture.

Well, I thought the plant's were getting used to the new light, and actually enjoying it.
However, I woke up yesterday morning to see brown\yellow spots all over the leaves. Mostly the lower leaves, but as of today its spreading to the uppers. The whole plant has a sort of yellow tint to it.

I havent dosed any Chems yet. Was waiting till they got a little taller and bushier. There's been no drastic changes in water or anything else but the light.

Reading other posts, its really hard to tell whats going on.

Some leaves are shriveling up, and becoming hard, cracking if you touch them.

Please help, the plants were doing very well, how could changing the light to something much better cause them to have this problem?

They're severely stressed now for some reason.

Damn that sucks, good move getting the new light.... I don't think they are getting too hot or you would see it in the upper leaves first.

Is the soil drying out quicker?? Could be underwatered...

I have noticed the soil does dry out quicker. But its still moist (not wet) like 2" down.

Temps in the room are a little warmer, but not to the point that it should stress the plant like this.

I would try to keep the top 2 inches moist as well, that's where those roots are now.

I don't know much about diseases but doesn't seem like your problem....

any help please? I've been monitoring them very closely today. Doesnt seem to be progressing but, rather subsiding. Wish I knew what caused it.. Anyone for a challenge?

when you changed the lights to something about 4 times more powerfull, did you move your lights higher? you should have.

leaves getting crisp is usually over-heating, at least in my setup.
what are the temps at the tops of the plants? (you should hang the meter on a string from where you hang the lights and place it in the level of the tops so it will be in the part that have higher intensity of light)

if the 2 top inches are getting crisp - water them.

having more light will higher the temps and as a result the soil will become dry quicker. hence you will need to water more frequently.

That's exactly what I was getting at, so with a 2nd opinion watering more would be step 1.

And I agree with checkin your temps as step 2, they are obviously going to be higher with these new lights.
