Hey. So this plant is about a month in. As you can see swim's been LSTing and its turning out pretty nicely (got it from a clone). But, the top of its tallest nodes are pretty much touching the lights when directly under them, which means swim have to awkwardly position the plant around the lights. Ive heard there are methods for maintaining a smaller plant, and im wondering if anyone could explain how to do it?

Any comments or criticisms on her would be nice too!

2nd pic looks like there could be some slight nute burn, nothing to wig out over. LST looks decent. You could actually tweak your LST a little bit harder to keep your plant as low as possible. hmmm.. My suggestion..
Get yourself another rubbermaid box exactly like the one your using. Double them up, with the bottom one sitting regular, as if you were using it for normal storage, and the top one sitting upside down kinda like a huge ass lid, on top of the bottom one. pull your lights out from where there fixed now. fix them to the inside/bottom of the upside down box. Im trying to visualize the dimensions of the box you got. im pretty sure this will give you atleast a few more inches of clearance.

well a few minor things

why are you growing in a wicker basket?

it looks like the top of your soil is over a foot off the ground, you could have used half that depth with the diameter pot you have.

also that high lip is preventing reflective light from hitting the sides of your plant. lower the lip and add a reflective coat to the inside of the tupp (that blue is eating about 1/3rd your lumens, and the open door aint helpin), the increased light will slow down its verticle growth. the more light that hits the inside leaves the less the plant feels it needs to stretch.

i have a technique for dwarfing, some folks say its silly but it works for me. keep the plants very close to the light untill you get branching, when a branch is about 3/4-1" long take the leaf right under that branch and cut all but the middle three leaves off. if you do it when the branch is too small the leaves on that branch arent ready to self support and theres a growth delay on that branch. if you do it right that branch grows faster. by removing those inner leaves more light gets to those close in leaves slowing stretch. and by doing this to leaves that are usually very close to the top, it stunts vertical growth alot, while not really effecting branching or node development.

halfway through veg change and cut all but the middle 5 leaves. cuz we need all the surface area we can get once we hit flower. and a week before switching to 12/12 no pruning AT ALL. and also none during flowering.

keep in mind your plant will doubleORtriple in size once u switch to flower.

there's always supercroping.....
I used the wicker basket because i figured it would be hard to overwater something with such good vetalation. the access water tends to accumulate at the bottom and quickly evaporate from my tray, so it generally works. Also, its easy to tie strings to the side when im tying down the plant.

As for the level of soul, its my first grow and thats a fact i never really came across. one of my bigger roots always gets revealed when i water, because its really close to the soil and stays there no matter how much i pack on top. So, i think with the size the plant is going to be (i want to fill the basket) that im going to need the space to maintain the root system.

I might end up switching to a plastic pale, though i always look at them and think "whats that stupid technology at the bottom". it looks like an auto-waterer and its in every pale, so i just went for the simple basket.
