Hey all. I got Dutch passion orange bud going on like 20days of flowering its like 4ft tall but it just has long stems not bushy at all many many bud points with a lot of pistols. Its running on. 250w hps. Is there something wrong. I've only seen male plants grow this lanky. Also would putting 2 cfls hanging on either side help. I guess I'm wondering since its so tall its not getting enough light but Idk. Help...IMAG0126.jpg

The stretch is already done, not a great deal you can do now. Ya should have done some training in veg to bush her out and keep the height down a bit. Also, try budblood next time when you flip the lights. It greatly reduces stretch and bring flowering on quicker.

How far is ya light from plant? Also support that top cola or it's gonna topple.

From the start the hps has never been more than 6 inches away I woke up one morning and it grew 2 full inches I tied the top down to giveme more room. I mean it all looks healthy its just so stretchy and tall. Should I get some cfls to put on the sides since its only a 250w?

Next time you can top the plant before you start flowering. It will cause the plant to bush out more than grow vertical. Part of your stretching problem is probably related to lack of light. The less watts you flower with the more stretch you will encounter.

A good product to fully stop stretching is Bushmaster from Humboldt's Own nutrients. You apply it for 2-3 consecutive feedings. It stops the stretch and makes bud sites stack. The product used to be called stacker.

Bud blood will initiate early flowering but won't do much for your stretching. It is a good product though. I prefer Open Sesame over Bud Blood but they are essentially the same thing.

Thanks! So what can I do now? Should I cut some of the lower stems they look like I'm only going to get a tiny popcorn nug anyway. And what about adding a cfl to each side?

Don't cut off any branches that far into flowering. You really shouldn't do any pruning past the end of week 2. You could end up stressing your plant and stunting growth. A good rule of thumb I use when pruning is to never prune more than 1/3 of your plant off in one session to avoid stress and stunting. I'm not sure if CFL's for side lighting would help. I've only grown with 600 and 1K watts before. It definitely wouldn't hurt anything though. Adding Bontanicare Sweet or Advanced Nutrients Carbo Load will add some bulk to your plants.

run a 12-1 light schedule and you wont get the light junky stretch syndrome, bushmaster works but cost money, top after you have 6-sets of node sites and it will bush out more, hps for veg is not the best, cfl's are a waste at this point, get a bigger light

I am using big bloom and tiger bloom but only 1tbl of big bloom and 1-2 tsp of tiger bloom every other feeding. Can it handle more? And if so how much more?

you will need ff growbig and cal-mag suppliment as well, fox farms tends to have micro dificencies, i have run ppm with FF as high as 1750 ppm, your around 650 800 ppm maybe depending on your ppm of your water when you start

Ill look into getting those nutrients thanks everyone. But just curious how much of the big bloom and tiger bloom can it handle every other feeding?

I use other nutrients than big bloom and tiger so I can't say for sure. Generally what I do is start out at 1/4 strength of the recommended dosage followed by 1/2 strength on the next feeding and if you see no signs of burning then go to the full recommended dosage. Once you know what the plant can handle you can apply those notes to your next grow if you are growing the same strain. Regardless, it's still good anyway to step up the strength of your flowering additives all the time rather than throwing them the full dose right off the bat.

With the exception of CalMag and carbs like Sweet or Carbo Load I never exceed the recommended dosage. Especially with flowering nutes. Flowering nutes are higher in PK and PK burn can really hurt the plant in just a day.

Ok I needed to water today anyway so I did the regular feeding size if I notice something going bad should I flush immediately and pray?

Just keep an eye on the tips your leaves and if you start to see brown or yellowing then you should give your plants a flush til runoff with plain water or a leaching agent like Final Phase or Flora Kleen. It all depends on the strain whether your plants can or can't take it. I had OG Kush and Granddaddy Purple on my last round and started my Purple Maxx Doses with 1/2 tsp per gallon and then stepped up to 1 tsp per gallon and my plants were fine. This round I did exactly the same. My Space Queen plants were fine but my Sour Grapes got a little nute burn. So, it all depends on the strain. Every one is different. Good luck!

I think your plant will fill in. watch ou for fox farm that shit runs hot don't give it full doses I would use half what they say and get some calmag plus. start feeding a teaspoon of calmag along with your nutrients
