I am using 2x400w hps
not currently using nutes
temps are 77F
ph of water is 6.5
I water every three days or when the top three inches of soil are dry.
light cycle is 12/12

I have recently been noticing more leaves curling and turning dark green. I am wondering if anyone can give me any input on what they think it is. I have looked on a few plant problems pages but havent found anything yet.

Regardless of what the problem is it is a deficiency of some sort and is caused by you are not using nutes. I suggest you go get some nutes. Get some veg nutes, something with a high N and low P and K. Use that till flowering begins, I mean till the flower form, Than use some bloom nutes. Something with a high P and K and a low N. make sure you start them slow, 1/4th strength at first.

You got everything esle looking good just need to get them the nutes they need for good growth. Good Luck

Ah! The dreaded claw! This means you are over fertilizing the plants. Too much salt buildup. But since you haven't added any nutes it must have to do with the original soil you used. The soil may need to be flushed so you can start from scratch again.

Take your plants and put them in the bathtub. Let water run over them slowly for about and hour until the water coming out is clear.

Give them a week before you start adding nutes again. The old growth will continue looking like a claw. You have to watch the new growth.

If the new growth is still looking too dark and curling under then flush the plants again.

Good luck bro!

Thanks for the help. I flushed about two and a half weeks ago and havent used nutes for about a month. I will try adding nutes again at 1/4 strenght to see if it gets worse or better.

That is so false. Claw is sign of many issues. You tell him he has salt over nuted when has has given no nutes?

This issue is he has no nutes and is now running deficient on some micro nutrient. Who knows. The issue at hand is if he does not give nutes he will continue to have wierd growth.

So op feed your damn plants. Make sure your ph is straight and you are not over watering. That should fix your issue

If you flushed it 2 and a half weeks ago and have not fed in a month that is the issue.

Just start your feeding schedule. Start at 1/4th strength than work up. Do not feed more than once a week. Go slow but introducing nutes will fix your issues.

We have quite a wide range of opinions..Let me put my 2 cents worth in. I suggest you start a nutes schedule but like Leftyy said start at a 1\4 strengh but more importantly find a mirco nute solution. I think its a micro nute problem. Just a thought, good luck with it.

I just checked out your journal...

He never said he had already flushed. Ironically that's what I recommended. I explained that that allows him to start from scratch with fresh nutes.

You do need to start adding nutes after the flush though.

I also explained that any leaf curling is permanent and to watch the new growth only. The claw is caused by a simple salt imbalance. You're right about many things causing it but the cure is the same.

Flush and start from scratch...

Here is what I recommend for nutes:

Use this for veg:

Botanicare Nutrients:

  1. 126ML Cal-Mag Plus
  2. 180ML Liquid Karma
  3. 540ML Pure Bend Pro Vegetative Formula
  4. 450ml Sweet
Use this for flower:
Botanicare Nutrients:

  1. 126ML Cal-Mag Plus
  2. 180ML Liquid Karma
  3. 540ML Pure Bend Pro flower Formula
  4. 450ml Sweet
Mix these formulas into gallon jug and add water and ph to 5.8.

Add the mix to your normal feeding schedule.

1 week before harvest, flush for 24 hours with Clearex and then use 450ml of Sweet only for the rest of the flush.

These formulas will give the best tasting buds you could ever imagine! Organic is the only way to go for taste...

I did flush, i just forgot to post it in my journal. Im pretty busy and spaced it. I really wish i could get those nutes man. I could probably order them from Europe but I dont have many options here in China. I did just start 1/4 strength nutes with this stuff i found called hyponex from japan that is 10-30-20 and ill probably raise it to 1/2 strength for maximum. This weekend my goal is to try and find some different nutes but i work everyday and i have to take a train to a bigger city to even get any growing supplies.

thanks for the help man
cheers

forgive me if im wrong but dude said flush your potted plants in the bathtub till you c clear, wouldnt you rather use rainwater or distilled? tapwater is very alkaline and messes with absorption of nutes.

sorry to bump an old thread but i came across this thread and read all the replies. I felt the need to bump this because i have the same problem and i was told it was due to HEAT STRESS from the intensity of the light, not because of a nutrient deficiency like everyone here has said. Could someone confirm this for me!!
