also i have just bought some litmus papers red strips and a blue strip... this is all there is in m area after going to all the garden bits in my area (big rural bastard) i found them in a chemist... now at school i only used clear litmus ph papers and i bougt 2 different kinds...

ok ok so i tested the water im using and no real reaction at all and i could only get red and blue litmus strips not a ph meter in sight...
i tried vinegar on and it turned the blue red so they are working...
it seems to be growing ok so should i carry on using water its been sittin out a while and hasnt been watered since i planted it... i added a lil vinegar to the water seems to have neutralized the water... am i right in assuming this?

ok if u want a ph tester go to anywhere that has fish aquarium stuff like tanks food lil plastic castles shit like that and u can find urself a water ph tester there also ur vinegar depending on ur water ph probly dropped it to either neutral or just below so it should b like 6.8 or sumthin which is good so keep it up and happy growing man

dude if you are super worried about ph. don't be you are growing in soil there is enough of a buffer between the root and the water for the plant not to be seriously affected. As for the cfls i would suggest something in the blue spectrum i believe a cool CFL but i am not 100% sure and over all they look fine

the best for veging wen it comes to cfls is the daylight they are the bluesest in the light spectrum and work great

kk cheers all im giving my plant the odd spray from a scooshie (water bottle that sprays out) total mind blank lol the soil is a wee bit damp ive poked my finger down and it seems ok for now...

another question lads n ladettes my pots only half filled with soil wi a few stones at the bottom for drainage. my question is this could i simply add some more soil on top of whats in there? effectively burying the stem?

would this work or would the roots just lock up... also if i needed to repot would it be possbile to just add more soil and put it in the same pot?
i was gona ask this last night but i forgot :P

effectively u could just add more soil to ur existing pot instead of replanting the only reason for replanting would b to move to a larger pot
