Planting Location and Sativa strain question

Hey,

In BC and wanting to grow sativa next year out doors.

1) What would be a good strain of sativa to plant that would take minimal maintenance?

2) If I plant near a river bed where the ground is wet all year round will the plant thrive or rot do to too much water?
