Im totally new to CFL growing, have a few HPS grows on my neck. Now im going to grow with CFLs, does the plants stay smaller with CFLs? OR is it all about the distance between light and top? The HPS got so warm that i couldt have it very close to my plants and they stretched as hell!! Dont have alot of space so i could do without the stretching...

as long as you keep your CFL's close to your plant, you will get more of a bushy plant than a stretched plant (obviously). Good thing about CFL's is that you can keep your lights within just a couple of inches from your plants and not burn them. Check out my grow to see how bushy my girl is, she's been under CFL's the whole way through so far and is short but quite bushy. Good luck!

you don't want taller plants with cfls. topping/fimming is meant for that kind of light application. cfl light doesn't go far so you want to create a large surface area which you can keep the bulbs very close to. right now i have plants over 20" tall so you can grow them big if you want. but i fimmed to create a nice flat top to bathe in the light.
