Plants just aren't drinking that fast?

I have six plants two weeks into flower in 5 gallon buckets in a flood and drain (8x/day for 30 min) bucket system, 55 gal res. I'd say that I filled it with water and nutes maybe two weeks ago now, and it's down maybe 5-6 gallons... plants are doing pretty well too, roots are taking off... the water is just not going anywhere. I've never done this system before so I'm not sure if this is normal, but with people changing out their res's every week, that would be a mammoth waste of water for me... are they just not absorbing what's in them? If that were the case, wouldn't they be wilting? They look as healthy as ever... wondering if the lights aren't bright enough, or what. Temps are good, 70-80... humidity 40-50.

Pics of plants and root mass? Idk flood and drain, only 5 gal dwc, but my one plant would drink at least 6 gal alone in two weeks during first weeks of flower so it sounds odd. Although your roots only have 4 hrs a day to drink vs 24hr, or am i understanding flood and drain wrong? Never looked into it at all
