Please help in identifying the problem!!

Long time reader of the forum here, need help please!!

Novice grower here (though its been a while) hoping to diagnose 2 girls ASAP!

Growing indoors, 75 degrees farenheight. Plenty of ventilation.

Watering every couple days when container feels "light.

Using Fox Farms Ocean soil & perlite.

Plants are clones, 4 or 5 weeks old-- in my veg chamer for about 2 weeks.

Vegging under 4 100w 6500k CFL's currently.

Started feeding 1/4 the recommended amount of fox farms Grow Big but have since stopped until I figure out what's wrong with these plants.

Any help is greatly appreciated & I thank all in advance!!!

4" x 4" x 4"


I know they are kind of small-- could this be the problem?

i normally start my plants off in 12oz cups then when i see roots start to form on the bottom then i transplant.
4x4x4 your plant is root bound by now have you sexed them yet?
And by the looks ease off the watering a bit.

Gotcha! Yeah, I kinda figured..... Thanks-- will do right away!! Was thinking of cutting off the top of some milk jugs & transplanting to those for now (since that is what I have on hand at the moment). This should be large enough for this stage, right? They are both female (clones) as far as I am aware. Will ease off the watering as well.... should I resume feeding of nutes soon or wait a bit longer after transplant?

A transplant would not hurt but to me that looks like over watering. Every couple of days is way to frequent. Even with small containers.

if your using foxfarm growbig u need to get the whole three part system. it looks like u got a defiency,but your only using step one and your burning them with nitrogen, overwatering and not correcting the problem. the fertilizer your using doesnt have all the nutes it needs. i only know cuz my first grow i had the same problems with the exact same fertilizer

What 3 part system?

Grow big is all you need for veg.


You must be doing something else wrong cause my plants have been nothing but healthy from seed or clone to harvest. I use fox farms grow big for veg. After flowering has begun(buds have started) I switch to Big bloom and Tiger bloom.

There is no 3 part system. You could use grow big all the way through with no issues.

The op is over watering his plants. Even my plants in 16oz cups never get watered every 2 days. That is way too frequent watering.

Right on Leftyy, that's what I thought! Will cut down on watering for sure. So if I do translant to dry soil, will that help with the overwatering or should I just let them "dry out" in their current containers?

That is up to you. It never hurts to repot. I would cause I have found it helps a stressed plant.

Than just relax on the watering.

Get a soil moisture meter if you want. I use one and swear by it. Like 6 bucks at lowes. You stick it in the soil if it says dry you water. That simple.

Also, they are currently on a 24/0 light cycle. Do you think an 18/6 cycle would be better for them after this stress??

do you have any pics of the soil? is there any algea growing on top of it? from those pics u posted they looked over watered but i dont think thats your main problem
