this is my first time cloning plants. heres how i did it.

1 i went and bought clonex, rootgel and the cubes and a dome. 1st picture
then i cut the clones from my female plants , cut at an angle at the bottom and skinned the outer layer of the clone, at the bottom inch. then i dipped the end in the gel and stuck em in the cubes. the first day they were all hurtin lookin droopy, but now all but one are sticking strait up. i mixxed the clonex with ph 6.5 water and im using that gallon to keep em moist.
did i do this right?
heres some pics of the nutes and stuff i bought. are they any good?
the dome can be seen on the shelf up out of direct light. i actually moved em to upstairs and im using a cfl lamp 5 inches above the clones.
any advise is greatly appreciated
these clones were just cut yesterday.

Man I have to be honest, those things look like shit. Did you clone them from a plant that had been dead for a week?

Alright now that I got that out of the way I will try to help.

you dont need that much plant to make clones, they'll actually sprout faster with less leaves... you should only have about 1 to 3 leaves for cloning... what you did was make the cutting top-heavy from all those leaves... start over and before you start cutting shit figure out what your doing first(not to be rude)... search cloning or go on google and you'll see what clones are supposed to look like

Alright first off if you are dipping in the gel, or powder based cloning compound such as rootech you wont need the large bottle of clonex solution. Rapid rooters are killer... Take the hole in the rapid rooter and start to split/spread the rapid rooter in half until you get about half way down, plop your powdered/gelled clone in there, then put it in your insert/tray.

After that, flood the tray with 5.5pH water (anything around there will work fine)... Give the ladies a spray once or twice a day, keep the dome on them, and give them air for about 5 minutes each day. Roots should form quickly...

I see that you don't have a tray insert, you should pick one of these up, it makes maintaining water levels much easier and gives the roots a place to fall into to absorb water.

You definitely don't need your CFL 5 inches away from the clones... 1 CFL a couple of feet away does the trick just fine... Remember, clones need very little light (I cannot emphasize this enough)...

I will be putting a video on how I get 100% successful roots using rapid rooters and clonex soon... I have the latter portion of the movie completed, just need to free up space in my clone trays... I will send you a PM with the link so you can watch if you're still having trouble in a couple of days.

lol. yeah they are a hurtin bunch. BUT ive brought these plants back from way worse. now the pictures dont really put across how they are doing. considering they were hanging over yesterday and they are standing up now. i guess they have a chance.
what i didnt understand was that you dont need the whole branch. i have some suppercropped plants and they have like 100 branches per plant so i figured if these shit the bed no biggie.

im still laughing about the dead plant coment. lol hehe they are hurtin. so should i be cutting just the top of the branch so they can shoot out 2 more branches? taking the whole branch doesnt allow it to regrow huh?

i have the tray i just am new to this and am going by the skin of my ballbag

Correct, if you take the whole branch you wont see it regrow...

If you take just the tips of the branches it will work much better... Wait til the branch you're cloning from has 2 nodes(2 nodes on the branch), and then take a cut from it, that will regenerate to 2, and then do those two and those will become 4. I've also PMed you some detailed instructions on cloning.

Glad you found the humor in my comment... good to see humor not go wasted for once ;)

Good luck bud.

thanks guys i knew id fuck up the first couple times. but now the clones are not drooping at all now, they are looking so much better. you know when i went to the hydro shop i asked the dude how to clone and im a burner so i forgot what he said by the time i got home. but why would he sell me both the gel and the clonex? just to make more money. anyway. i topped the plant i took em from so many times i could pull 50 branches off and still have a plant to flower. but now that i know ill not be taking anymore branches . oh is it really possible to clone a leaf?

you are right, but don't no if you looked at the thread i started my crazy techniq. with that method i too get 100% turnout. their aremany ways to clone that have higher % turnout. but yes i can't wait to watch your method. imsure i'll pick somthing up out of it.

i know they are still not perfect. but im hoping they will take and that as time goes on each time i do it itll be a little more sucessful each time

they look good for clones. a clone willalways look like shit from the start. leaves will turn yellow and fall off.its the new growth that youwant to lookm good, and stay looking good.

They look much better than the other cuts you took... but those plugs look very saturated... I think once you master how moist they should be, you're golden. I would consider getting a tray insert for that tray... and keep a dome over them to keep the humidity up...

i let the cubes dry out almost completelt then i re-wet them . i had just soaked em before i ttok that picture. how many days does it usually take for roots to start . would it help if i put more rooting gel on em or will the original dipping do the job?

me peronaly i keep my rockwool setting in just a bit of water the whole time while they are rooting. tea all the leaves turn yellow but seems to root a little faster. im trying a couple of diffrent things this time with the clones to see if it is that that makes them root faster, or is it my 400wtt mh that i have on them from the day i cut them. i will be finding out and share when i do.

i would'nt put any extra on . but i do take the clones that don't root when the others do and rect and did. most of the time i can get a few more to root doing that.

another thing that will help out is if you spray carbonated water on them you can find this at your local grocery store i'm pretty sure it will be something called sparkeling water or some thing similar clones are looking way better good luck

carbonated water huh? it wont hurt it? i seriously never even gave my plants nutes untill very recently. i would just water them and mabey give them miracle grow once in there entire life. now recently i went out to the local hydro shop and the guy sold me some stuff called tiger bloom. by fox farm and this stuff called fox farm big grow. has anyone ever heard of these?

does giving them nutes really make the difference?
heres a pic. did i get the right stuff. im using 2/3rds strength now and i figured id make it more potent as time goes on.

One dip in the root tech is enough...you will see roots poking out in 9 to 12 days.
