Can i hook up 12volt fans that go to a computer to a light socket if i splice the wire to a power cord? Or if that too much electricity and will it cause a fire?

Thanks bro i needed to know bc ebay was selling some fans that came from computer i guess. what type of fans can i or do you recomened then? I am trying to build a pimp ass stealth cabinet...

go to office depot and buy a 350 power suppy for 40$ and then a LED fan for 9$. that will cover you

Use 120volt fans, on houshold current, in the USA.
Use 240volt fans, on household current in many european contries.
Use 5v, 6v, or 12v fans, with computer power supplies, for small applications.

Just read the label on the fan, and follow directions.

Computer fans run off of DC current(Direct current) and regular plugs in a house are 120-220 volts AC(Alternating current) if you try to put computer fans into any ac output they will fry up in about 30 seconds I've done it before if you want to use computer fans go to a hobby shop and get a AC in to DC out power suplpy, I have one that is intended to run a model train. And has both ac and dc outputs. g/l
